Profoto 100670 reviews

Pro Tube for Magnum & Narrow Beam Reflectors is rated 5.0 out of 5 by 1.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Concentrated Light I bought a Profoto Protube from B&H and I also own a Mola Rayo. I mention this because both the Protube and the Rayo produce a concentrated light. The Protube at about 16'to 18' the light has a very hard break with the diameter of the projected light around 8'. At around 3' the diameter of the projected light is about 1.5' to 2' The projected light of the Protube from center to the hard break appears to be fairly even. This is one of the points where the Protube and the Rayo differ. The Rayo also has a hard break and is concentrated but there is more of a feathered look from center to the edge of the projected light. Also the Protube seems to produce a smaller projected diameter than the Rayo. Only, slightly though. This makes the Protube have a more intense output compared to the Rayo given the same light settings. One last thing I am using the Protube with a Profoto Narrow Beam Reflector. I think the Profoto Protube, Fresnel Light, and the Mola Rayo are all excellent choice for photographers that want to explore the 1930's to 1940's Hollywood Film Nior / Glamour style. Another helpful use of the Protube is that if you want to bounce a light off the wall that is a long distance away the Protube becomes a very good choice. The downside of the Protube is the price. But, I think everyone knows this when they are buying Profoto gear. I would recommend this light only to photographers that know how or want to know how to work with hard light. This is not a light modifier for a photographer that is a one trick pony and that keeps photographing the same way every single time. You would be surprised how many one trick ponies are out there.
