Really Right Stuff TVC-33 Overview

The TVC-33 Versa Series 3 Mk2 from Really Right Stuff is a mid-weight carbon fiber tripod designed for use in both the field and studio.

Constructed from Really Right Stuff's patented carbon fiber weave, the TVC-33 weighs in at 4.3 lb and can safely support up to 85 lb. It's 3-section leg design allows the tripod to extend to a maximum height of 58.6" and lower down to a minimum working height of just 4.1".

Quick set-up and break-down is facilitated by easy-to-use twist locks, which require just a quarter rotation to unlock and re-lock each leg section. This design also helps to maintain the tripod's slim folded silhouette. Additionally, when traveling with or storing the tripod, the entire support can fold down to just 25.6" in length, small enough to travel or hike with.

Each leg is attached to the tripod's collar via an offset leg joint that helps to evenly distribute heavy loads and maintain the tripod's rigidity. The joints and collar are constructed of lightweight anodized aluminum which, aside from lending inherent strength to the tripod, also provides it with natural wear and corrosion resistance. Each one of the three leg joints also feature a variable angle stop that automatically locks into place as the legs are folded downward into "standard" position.

The TVC-33's feet are a unique teardrop shape that prevents the leg sections from touching the ground at even the lowest height settings and the most unusual angles. Their rubber exterior provides a non-slip grip on nearly any surface and can be used both indoors and outdoors without concern. For users wishing to change the native rubber feet to metal "all-terrain" spikes, a set of metal spikes are available separately.

It's 3-section leg design allows the tripod to extend to a maximum height of 58.6", lower down to a minimum working height of 4.1", and with a folded length of 25.6"
The tripod weighs in at 4.3 lb, and it can safely support up to 50 lb
Twist locks with integrated wipers to keep particles out of the locking mechanism
Versa apex, which accepts a 75mm video bowl, has multiple 1/4"-20 sockets for accessories
Rubber feet provide a non-slip grip on surfaces and can be switched to metal "all-terrain" spikes, which are available separately

Really Right Stuff TVC-33 Reviews

In the end, a fantastic solid tripod!

The first tripod showed up defective, the replacement also defective with the same issue.......a 3rd arrived again defective! However B&H was a breeze dealing with the exchanges, and fast shipping as always. After sending photos to the manufacturer of the problem, they had me send the last copy I got directly back to them instead of returning it to B&H. Really Right Stuff sent me a brand new tripod in perfect condition directly to me, in a fast turn around, and had great communication and customer service. So after a little headache I got a fantastic tripod, and now I know the company has great customer support should I need it down the road.

If you sat down and said ‘I am going to make every component the absolute best it can be, regardless of what it costs,’ this is what you’d get. Comparing this to the second best tripod on the market is like comparing a Ferrari to a Miata. Sure, the Miata is nice, but not in the same class. RRS tripods are simply the best. I have had the TVC-33 for about 3 years now, using it with a 46 megapixel sensor camera, and pictures come out as sharp as they can be, even on windy days at full extension. And the icing on the cake is that every part of this beauty is like new after 3 years of heavy use! You’ll be shocked at just how beefy this is when it arrives. This is no toy! If you are debating because of price, just buy it. You definitely get what you pay for with this one.

After 40 years of photography, finally found the last tripod I will ever need. This thing is a workhorse, very sturdy and lightweight. Paired with the RRS BH-55 ball head, you can't go wrong.

Very stable, top notch quality. Upgraded from a Precision Shooters Tripod and the difference in stability and quality is immediately apparent. Well worth the cost in my opinion.

Been using my TVC-33 (Mark II) with the RRS BH-55 ball head for about 10 months now.  It replaced a series 2 Gitzo with a RRS BH-40 ball head.  Nothing wrong with that tripod setup but I wanted a more solid series 3 without a center column.  This thing is rock solid, smooth and screams quality.  I use it for landscapes, macro, star trails and some wildlife (using a Wimberley Arca Sidekick Gimbal attached to my BH-55).  With my 5DIV or 7DII  mounted in the BH-55, it is above my eye line (I’m 5ft 10in) so if I’m on flat ground I have to drop the legs some making this the perfect height for me.  I have used it on slopped ground, nothing too steep, and it is a very comfortable height. Since most of my photography is out in the dirt and rocks, I added the Pod Foot Rock Claws which I absolutely love and never take off unless I’m using it indoors on a hard delicate floor.  I have RRS’s Large Tripod Bag which is perfect for the TVC-33 with BH-55 attached.  It also has storage for my PC-LR Panning Clamp and a few tools. I own several RRS products and you do pay top price but every single thing I own is of the highest quality, beautifully finished and I expect it to last my lifetime therefore I think RRS is one of the best values out there. Worth the Money

I have the TVC-34L and I bought the 33 to use for when I'm unlikely to need the extra height of the 34L. I don't need that extra height most of the time, and the 33 weighs less than the 34L, and most of all I prefer dealing with 3-section legs as opposed to 4-section legs. The quality of materials and workmanship, and ease of use (smoothness of operation and the comfortable rubber grips) in the RRS tripods, are unmatched in my experience.

I've finally entered into the next realm of beautiful and excellent equipment. I love everything about this tripod. The weight(or lack of), the stability, solidity, and the overall design. So glad I made the decision to get it.
