Designed for their Iris Filter System, the Iris Expansion Filter Set from PolarPro allows users control over the shutter speed on select iPhone and Pixel phones in outdoor lighting conditions, or ones that are otherwise very bright. Included is an ND64 filter, an ND128 filter, and an ND256 filter. The ND8 filter reduces the amount of light entering the lens by six stops, while the ND16 provides a seven stop reduction and the ND32 filter provides an eight stop reduction. All of this allows for the use of slower shutter speeds in brightly lit environments for both still photography and video. When used for still photography, images can be created with varying levels of motion blur. When shooting video, these filters can be used to set the shutter speed at 1/50, thus creating a more cinematic look.
These filters are built using Cinema Series glass that provides sharp images with neutral colors, as well as eight layers of coatings on each side to help reduce ghosting and flaring. Each filter is also encased within a machined aluminum grip so that filters may be easily changed without getting fingerprints on the glass. Protection is provided by a limited lifetime warranty.
Please note that the Iris Filter System is sold separately. Also, manual shutter speed control requires a third-party app, such as FiLMiC Pro, ProCamera, or ProShot.
