Beware - No 180 tilt feature!

So I thought this was one heck of a deal on a somewhat hybrid version of the alta 2 and alta2+. It seemed to have all the updated features of the 2+, including the BH (vs SBH) ball head, twist lock, 4 position legs, etc, but I missed that the center shaft does not tilt like the earlier Pro2 or newer Pro2+. My bad because it was not mentioned in the description and the pics are accurate. I'd return it but feel it is a solid buy for what it is.

It's been a while since I've used a full size tripod, favoring the smaller and lighter travel ones. However studio work is forcing me to invest in something else. This Vanguard Alta Pro was discounted when I bought it and the value is incredible. This thing is well built, solid and has several useful and convenient features! I love being able to remove the column with a push of a button and the built-in 3/8 thread on the side of the platform that holds the head. The head itself is also solid as a rock. I look forward to the many years of use I'll get out of these legs.

I've had this about six months and I find I use it all the time. Whenever I need a sturdy tripod especially to either hold something heavy steady, for a remote controlled pan/tilt head or just because I need to fit it into some odd placement, this is the solution I'm using. Love it so much, I'm ordering another one today.

My first tripod. Easy to set up and use. A little bulkier and heavier than I imagined but very sturdy. I imagine I will purchase another for travel purposes. Otherwise I am very satisfied with my purchase.
