Hollyland Cosmo 600 Reviews

Good so far

I havent battle tested this in a production environment yet but my neighborhood testing produced good results. I sat the transmitter on top of my old (mostly metal) car (which likely would cause interference) and walked down my street about 200 feet with the receiver and a monitor in hand. In line of sight it did great. Only when I used my body as a shield and also a fence between us did it lose connection. Then I walked around my house to the backyard using my house as a barrier between us and it did great. Then I went in my house and shut the door. It wasnt quite line of sight anymore as now there was a corner of a brick wall and also a door between us. The picture got really noisy but still worked. Setup was super easy. Connect batteries, connect cables, turn on, set channel and it connects. I like that is uses L series batteries for the transmitter and the large V-mount for the receiver. I see the replacement model uses L series for both. I wonder if there are other differences as well? Hollyland customer service was super, promptly answering my pre-sales questions and even sending me additional instructions. They followed up with me after the sale to see how it was working. I noticed both transmitter and receiver got really warm soon. But to be fair, so did my Ikan monitor I was testing with. Hopefully this system will prove dependable and solve my wireless video needs. Its too late to return it now anyway. I also bought a Cosmo 400 on sale so I will test it next and test them together on different channels as they are supposed to be able to be used together that way.

No V-mount Plate on Receiver

I purchased the 600 from B&H because the Receiver was promoted as having a V-mount battery plate however when it arrived BOTH the Transmitter and Receiver had a L-Series battery mount. It was very odd as photos on box, manual and specs mention the V-mount plate. It was a little disappointing as no explanation was given from manufacturer. I would have kept the system but have since returned for a refund.

Great product for the sale price

Ive been using the Cosmo 600 for the last week. The SDI loop through is great to have on the transmitter. The connection is solid at close distances. Ive started to have issues with it over about a 100 feet - but under, its rock solid. As soon as theyre powered on, they work. I think that for the price it was on sale for its a GREAT product. I dont think its in the same category as a Teradek or Paralinx which is how theyre marketing with their prices. It came with everything I needed to shoot. I know theres a bad review about not having the right cables, but I got mine, unpacked it and started shooting. It came with everything but an HDMI or an SDI cable which I already had. Connectivity issues are the only thing that was not up to the 600 ft. Maybe I had too much interference, maybes its because the monitor was IN a truck, I dont know! But otherwise, the product works as expected.

I have had many problems with the fastasma of Cinegears. I am dedicated to streaming with Sonya7iii and BM 4.6K cameras. I wonder if I will lose signal in events where there are many people with a cell phone? Can the camera be connected to the transmitter via HDMI and from the transmitter get a signal via SDI or vice versa? The receiver sends 2 signals simultaneously on HDMI and SDI? o Can only choose one output? This model Cosmo600 is your latest technology with these antennas? Can you compare and overcome the Teradek Bolt LT? The Cosmo 600 is the same brand as the Vaxis Storm because they have the same antennas and housing?

What is frequency that each channel uses and is ...

What is frequency that each channel uses and is this the same for the Cosmo 400? I understand it operates in the 5.1-5.9 GHz range but would be helpful to know which frequencies have been chosen for the 10 available channels on the unit. Also are the frequencies the same for the lower model Cosmo 400?
Asked by: Simon
COSMO 400 is old version, which is not compatible with COSMO 600. Except for COSMO 400 and COSMO 1000, all other Hollyland's products are compatible with each other.

Does the microphone input work? And if so how? Does an external microphone connection add two new embedded channels to both V channels embedded in SDI? Another question: Is the system 10BIT uncompressed?
Asked by: zvi
Cosmo 600 does not support microphone input. And it is uncompressed 10bit, whose chroma sumsampling is 4:2:2.
