Ultimaxx UM-CHARGER Reviews

Works great.  Until it melts.

This seemed to be a great accessory, but 2 months and 12 uses in, it stopped mid-charge. I removed it from the outlet and discovered that the front had melted and the metal tip came free in the 12V outlet, creating a fire hazard. Thankfully the metal didn't touch the positive and negative parts of the outlet at the same time. I had to use plastic tweezers to remove the metal from the outlet. The unit gets very hot on the main plastic body, but that's evidently nothing compared to the plug part. I never charged a remote and a battery at the same time (in spite of the front of the package saying CHARGE YOUR BATTERY AND REMOTE CONTROL AT THE SAME TIME), as the rather thin wires didn't inspire confidence that the charger could handle both, but even one thing at a time appears to be more than the current design can handle. I am past the return period, and will ask Ultimaxx to stand behind their product. You may have better luck than me, but I believe that unless the smell of burning plastic and the rush of a potential fire gets your juices flowing, you may want to consider another option.
