20 percent heavier than advertised

The specs say 2 lbs, and the display model was certainly that weight, but the one that came in the box was 2.4lbs so something has changed at the factory and B&H should update their display model and online specs to reflect that. In fact, I was comparing it to a gitzo that was $100 more and probably would have gone with that one instead. Still, I love the size. it fits perfectly in just about any size backpack and is still solid enough to hold a dslr & 70-200 lens, though likely not much more than that.

I use this mainly as a travel and backpacking tripod and this is a fantastic tripod. The build quality is great, the ball head is sturdy and it is easy to use. I would highly recommend this tripod and I would buy it again.

This little tripod is very well engineered and made. Nice features on the leg design for setting the right level to safely balance a camera. The ball head is quick and easy to adjust with tightening knob securing the position accurately. With the legs fully extended it is a bit spindly but is adjustable to wider leg stance to hold all in better balance. Shorter leg extension is very secure. The low level stance is the best feature. Quite compact with nice carrying bag. Nicely portable and compact.

I bought this Tripod because I got tired of carrying my full size RRS Tripod around on long trips. It’s small, lightweight, and fits in a normal size backpack. With 30 second night exposures, it produces excellent pictures that are tack sharp and crisp. I’m using a Canon 6d and 16-35mm. The only negatives are if you’re in a windy area, it can can vibrate a tad, even with weighing it down. But if you’re in a windy area, all lightweight tripods are going to vibrate some. Buy a full size Tripod if that’s going to be a concern.

Hi Folks this is not strong enough for basic photography.. the first time i used it.  one of the poles bent and was not able to go back in until alot of effort.. So I return it. I would recommend to go for a carbon fiber tripod.. thanks

Very sturdy, light weight. Great for travel. I do wish it was a few inches taller, but overall a great little tripod.

This is my second Sirui head/legs combo. The first traveled as far as Colorado and Hungary and still worked fine despite eight years worth of bumps and scratches. I lost it on a hike and had to replace it. The 2020 model is similar to the 2012 model and is just as good. Very sturdy when open and very compact when shut -- it travels well and holds the camera well. I give it five stars because it is well made and perfectly suited to its function. Some caveats that may influence your decision: Stated dimensions on the B&H website are 12 inches folded length and 2 pounds weight. The one I got is a hair under 13 inches and is 2 pounds 5.6 ounces (without the QR plate). Also, the photo shows foam insulation on all three legs, but the one I got has foam on just two legs. Finally, you need to give the head a final strong twist to lock it onto the stem or else it will spin around at the wrong time. That I don't like. But the head holds once it's on there firmly. The unit advertised is a T-005SK. The one shipped to me was a T-005US. Perhaps that accounts for the missing foam and different dimensions.

Will this tripod work well with a RRS BH-55 ball ...

Will this tripod work well with a RRS BH-55 ball head?
Asked by: DON
It wouldn't work well. The tripod head supports significantly more than the tripod could, and even with a medium-weight camera, due to the combination of head + medium camera/lens combo, the center of gravity would make it more likely to topple over. A good combination with the 005 from RRS would likely be the BPC-16 microball or (if you want to push it) the more compact BH30.

What have been your experiences with this tripod? ...

What have been your experiences with this tripod? Have you found that the legs collapse easily? Must you be extra careful tightening the legs?. The column that goes up and down, must you also be vigilant that it too has been tightened "hard"? And, finally, the ballhead itself, can it hold without sagging ( or tipping over) a NIKON D90 or D7000 or D610 with battery grips and a 300MM lens? Thanks
Asked by: Harvey
The T-005SK has an 11 pound load capacity. The center column is fixed to the spider but can be unscrewed for low camera angles. As with all Sirui products all actions are smooth. Remember Sirui backs all tripods & heads for 6 years.

Can you attach a smartphone to this tripod?
Asked by: Alice
You'll just need a phone holder that can be screwed onto a 1/4 20" sized screw or slide into an Arca-Swiss style tripod head. This option does both! It also comes in a variety of colors. https://bhpho.to/2ZMEzes
