Sirui T-25SK T-0S Series Travel Tripod with B... Reviews

Truly Travel Size

I initially purchased another tripod that was advertised as a travel tripod. I found it too long and bulky to carry in or on my backpack. I had big concerns about lightweight, compact and able to hold the weight of my camera and lens. I called B & H and they helped me to determine that the Sirui T-25Sk tripod would better suit my needs. Fully extended legs are thin, but I don't feel it will tip, especially if I hang my backpack on the enter hook to add a little more stability. It slips into the side pocket of my pack and EVEN FITS INSIDE. Looking forward to hiking without a bulky tripod getting hung up on tree limbs, etc. This tripod cost more than double my originally purchased tripod, but I feel it was worth it. I have refrained from taking my camera in certain areas because I needed both hands available to get up or down a hill. I look forward to re-visiting some of those areas with my gear along. I am a medium built 5'3 female. Size and weight matter!

Well made with a major flaw

This Sirui tripod is very well made especially given its low price. I really wanted it to work because of it's small size and weight. The tripods three legs while very small are quite ridgid. My test was to use the tripod with a Nikon D850 with a 24-70mm 2.8 lens which weighs 1.98kg. The design flaw is the non adjustable center column. It's a two part adjustable column that is fixed in place. I had hoped I could use the tripod by fully lowering the column down to the tripod head, which it turns out is not possible. With the extended column, the slightest touch to the camera/lens causes the tripod and camera into an oscillation that lasts several seconds. If the column was designed like most tripods to fully drop into the tripod head, it could have worked for my needs. One might ask why I would even try this tripod with such a heavy Nikon body. I have two very reliable heavier Gitzo tripods. However, I wanted a super light tripod that I would rarely need when traveling and was willing to tolerate a little instability but would be stable enough to use with a wireless shutter release. Unfortunately, it still shook slightly using that release, I have returned it.

Great addition to my hiking pack

I bought this to go in my lightweight hiking back pack. I wanted to take advantage of the PD system that I have to carry camera on strap, and need something less than 13 long to go inside. This item fits the bill and is very affordable as well. Great buy.

Great tripod

I bought this for the compact size and light weight for hiking. To this end, it is perfect. Love the hook to hang a bag or weight for more stability. Small, light weight ballhead is surprisingly good quality and holds my camera solidly. Love the ability to quickly remove center post and get really low too. Only drawback would be stability, simply because it is so lightweight, it is not as stable as my other full size tripods. But that is to be expected and is the tradeoff for the weight savings. Doesn't replace my other tripods but is a welcome addition when I need to save space and weight.

Very lightweight

This is a very lightweight tripod that seems to come at a cost of a sturdy feel, but that's purely subjective. When fully extended, there is a tiny bit of bowing. This is the feeling of lack of sturdiness. However, the tripod is quite stable, and you can increase the stability by attaching a weight to the included carabiner at the base of neck. The materials feel top notch, and all moving parts glide smoothly. Locking the ball joint is very smooth and doesn't take much force; same with lateral rotation of the neck. For max height reference, I'm 5'10 and have to bend over slightly to use the viewfinder. It doesn't come with an extension grip to help with panning. However, I have no problem just using the camera to pan since everything rotates so smoothly. The only thing I wish this had was a lock for one of the legs to also use this as a monopod. Still, it's just fine with all three legs extended and tied together with a rubber band or something similar. Overall a solid tripod that's very lightweight. I have no problem taking this with me on walks or to the park with my toddlers or on forest hikes to landscape or wildlife. If it's in your budget (or can find it on sale like I did), then it's a tripod you won't regret having bought.

Small Light weight and Good for Travel

A travel tripod can be a compromise between what is small and light enough to always be carried and sturdy enough for excellent stability. This is small enough to fit in my messenger bag and carry with me when I am traveling but will most likely be a little unstable at full extension. One thing I don't like is the center column is not retractable. Having said all of this it is a good compromise for travel photography.

The BEST travel tripod

I'll start by saying I've used practically every professional tripod under the sun, and this is not a professional level tripod. Why do I bother saying that? Because I see too many reviews on travel tripods expecting them to be. Now that I've gotten that out of the way, let me tell you what this is... the BEST travel tripod. I ordered this because it was small and light, and expected to make compromises for those features. And I was shocked that I really didn't have to compromise. It's sturdy enough, very high quality, smaller and lighter than I expected even though I read the specs. It's seriously the perfect travel tripod. I take it everywhere now. The ONLY thing I don't love is the ball head. It holds up great its just not on the level of the rest of the tripod and doesn't have a leveling bubble. But that's a small complaint and something I can easily change. I HIGHLY recommend this to anyone who needs a tripod for travel or street photography.

I feel 2nd stage center column (top most one) is actually a plastic material even thought it look like carbon material. Also screw threads of top 2nd stage column threads is plastic which can be screwed to round base. This plastic screw threads in long run usage will be like a 'weak link in strong chain'. What is your opinion ? Thanks for looking at my question/query.

Does the ballhead work fine with Sony A7R3 + Sony 16-35 f2.8 / 24-105mm lens veristically?
Asked by: sean
It should. I use my Nikon D750 and with a 28-300mm lens on it. It is a travel tripod, so you may not get the height you want in some situations. It works for me. It fits in my backpack and carry-on luggage and it's also light.

Asked by: Harry
I have found the T025X to be a good tripod for the weight but not as stable as my other light tripod that weighs about a half pound more. The T025X legs have 5 extensions and my more stable tripod legs are 4 extensions.

Get legs and then attach a pan head like the IFOOTAGE video tripod head. The cheaper pan heads do not work well with the weight of most scopes and do not adjust well for the amount of tension one would want.
