Linksys Velop AC4400 Reviews

Worst WiFi and a garbage App

By unhappy

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I have had this system for over a year, bought to replace my aging Google Wifi. I had to stop using this and go back to Google WiFi as the Velop kept disconnecting and would not auto reconnect without unplugging and plugging it back in. So these just set in a box for the majority of the time I have owned them. I contacted support several times and the suggestion was to go through the setup process, which I ended up doing about 5 times before I just went back to the old Google WiFi setup. I just moved into a new house which has fiber and decided to give these a try again. They do seem more stable now, and seemed to be working well for about a week, but if they ever lose connection getting them to connect again is a manual process. I am also getting very poor speed over Wifi, at the router it is great, but on my phone and computers its terrible. All this and I haven't even gotten to the garbage app. IF it works (ie: actually allows you to connect) it is OK, not great, still a one star compare to Googles WiFi app. It is just very frustrating given the cost of these. They are priced as premium WiFi devices but in reality they are far from it. Avoid these and buy literally anything else.

Sucks in so many ways.

I purchased this router in January 2022 because I wanted it to work with Apple Homekit. Install was nice and easy. Within the first week of having this system it was a nightmare. The app says everything’s fine but at least once a day I would have to reset the router because nothing would work. The app says it’s fine, but not a single device would function. Rare occasions I could go a full day without resetting it. On my worst days I would reset it 8 times. I have changed routers and the problem went away. It is for sure the router. I have been on line with customer support twice for two hours and the “fix” that is done never lasts for more than a day. I want my money back.

Well, I called support today finally after several days of trying to get one of the three nodes back working, well after one hour of trying with a support agent on the phone, here is what I accomplished, one node down and one node offline which will not connect as well so I am down to the main node connected to my router,BIG F Deal Not able to replace one bad one since it was not considered defective which it is, now I got to try to get my offline node back online

Good product, but frustrated with customer support

The product works well. In fact I just added 3 for a total of 6 throughout my house. One of the 3 arrived defective and wouldnt turn on. I spent over 2 hours on the phone trying to get a replacement, I probably should of used half of a PTO day sorting this out. One hour for the tech support to confirm it is indeed broken. Then over another hour trying to get through to customer support to finish the process. The tech gave me the wrong extension, so between dropped calls and getting transferred to the wrong departments I was growing pretty frustrated. The replacement process is so cumbersome. You sent a bad product, just replace it already and have me ship it back to you.

Unreliable and requires resets

I have owned this product for over a year. In the past few months it has become unreliable and it has needed resetting to factory defaults on multiple occasions. In the past two months I have starting getting errors (2123). When I've called I have been told that I need to reset the entire system to factory defaults. This isn't the first linksys product I have purchased and the reliability on their products is not great.

Does not work

I bought one and worked decent. Moved to a new home and purchased another. Home must be built of lead as these barely cover a room. To connect the units, they have to be line-of-sight and cannot have a wall between them. I placed one literally one floor above (12 feet distance unit-to-unit) and would not connect. Decided to put one tower in basement, immediately after modem (google fiber) then take line to next unit. Second unit constantly drops (flashes red). I am constantly restarting the routers. Was on phone with support for hours multiple times and they could not get to work. Tried replacement and still having issues.

As the manufacturers do not provide this information when updating an existing model number, I am unable to verify this for you. It is possible our inventory is mixed with different revisions of the same product. Manufacturers do not update the product model numbers when new revisions are released. As a result, we are unable to discern revisions within individual shipment palettes from the manufacturers. I apologize for the inconvenience.

If other specs are the same, the only difference is the extra band for performance.
