Bescor Specter Reviews
Chose another option if you need to be mobile.
Dont use with portable LP-6 batteries. The will constantly quit working because the connection isnt solid. the weight of the battery causes these lights to turn off/say LO even tho the battery is fully charged. Pus the Touch buttons are miserable. look for something with an actual on/off switch.
Lights work well. Very flexible. I have these about 4-5 feet from peoples faces. It does not blind them while they are reading. Both color & intensity variable.
Worked in the rain with clear bottles over them.
Good lights, poor power adapters
The lights in this kit are bright and very adjustable, and stands are very stable given their light weight. The first setup of the stands was a bit difficult because of how tight the top section is stuck into the next piece, but once freed the first time, it was a lot easier. Where this kit falls down on is the power for the lights. The included power adapters can reach about 6', but there is a block in the middle of the cable, so the block will be hanging in midair if the stands are extended to any real height, and the plug will not reach the ground if the stands are extended to their full height. While the lights can use batteries, none are included in the kit. Minus the power issues (which can be worked around with some judicious use of cable ties and extension cords), this is a solid kit.
Perfect for interviews on the go
I think when reviewing a product it's important to remember what it is and what it is not. These are not ARRI panel lights intended to light up a set. They are two lights the size of my hand that slide into my backpack perfectly and are plenty good for most interview situations. My job is a lot of You have 5 minutes to set up and 5 minutes for the interview ENG scenarios and I couldn't be happier. Changing color temperature & brightness is super easy. One word of advice is keep the batteries separate because the on/off switch can get bumped in your bag causing the battery to drain.
Lightweight well made.
This is a nice fill light but, not bright as expected. Still got the job done. Had to contact B&H because the white balance instructions were not clear. B&H had to contact Bescor for same reason. Once that was cleared up everything was fine.
For the price.... its a nice set but don't expect a lot
It's good for single person interviews.
Wish these lights had remote control. Also, the cables need to be longer.
