Lilliput A7S Reviews

This monitor is great for achieving focus with my manual focus lenses. My eyes are not what they used to be and my camera is old and does not have focusing aids. My one issue is, as it's been mentioned before, it drains the life out of the battery in no time. Good thing the monitor weights next to nothing, cause you're gonna need to carry many batteries if you're planning to use it outdoors.

Now, I can plug in a monitor to my Sony cameras, anywhere. I can see shots I've taken, I can show models.

Very satisfied with this product. For the price, excellent value. Quite extensive menu that allows a surprising number of adjustments. Picture quality is good for my needs.

OK, the device works as it is supposed to. No problem. My downer: set up. Useless instructions. Took too much fiddling around (I am not tekkie-smart) to figure out how to assemble this thing. I dislike the industrial-strength HDMI cable. Really irritating. Device seems top heavy. If it's going to fail, I suspect it will be that skinny plastic hot shoe connection. Worked OK in my studio but haven't had time to use it outside; I'm interested to see how the Velcro-enabled hood works. Packaging excellent. Arrived in perfect condition. Would I buy another or suggest it to a friend? No.

Canon EP6 battery plate unusable

I like the monitor's image and extras (notably focus peaking.) If you want to use this monitor with batteries, you'll have to use Sony F970s. The battery plate for Canon EP6s fits onto the monitor, but it doesn't fit the batteries. You would think Lilliput would have corrected this flaw with a simple to replace plate that fits Canon batteries (or that B&H wouldn't sell a product that doesn't work as advertised. Mine is not the only monitor with this flaw. Read some of the other less-than-complimentary reviews.) Oh well.

how clear can you see the screen when shooting outdoors? (if someone can provide a picture of the screen turned on outside it would be much appreciated)

It's fairly bright, and it comes with a foldable sunshade to help. In direct sun it'd be similar to a large iPhone in visibility.

Does this monitor offer grid, safe zone and golden thirds overlays?
Asked by: Mike
Grid - Yes Safe Zone - If you are meaning the border around your whole frame like as you would have in an editing program such as premiere pro then the answer is yes. As to the golden third overlays, I have no idea what that is so I'm not able to answer that question.
