NiSi 82mm PRO Nano IRND 0.9 Filter (3-Stop)

BH #NIRND0982 • MFR #NIR-ND0.9-82
NiSi 82mm PRO Nano IRND 0.9 Filter (3-Stop)
Key Features
  • 8x Filter Factor, 3-Stop
  • Darkens Entire Image
  • Allows Reduced Shutter Speed
  • Allows Wider Aperture
The NiSi 82mm PRO Nano IRND 0.9 Filter is an ND filter with an 8x filter factor that provides a 3-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

NiSi PRO Nano IRND Filter Overview

The NiSi 82mm PRO Nano IRND 0.9 Filter is an ND filter with an 8x filter factor that provides a 3-stop exposure reduction. Its 0.9 density creates a darkening of the entire image, allowing you to photograph with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. By slowing your exposure time or increasing your aperture, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily. Neutral density filters are intended to not affect the coloration of the image and are ideal for pairing with other filters.

The design of this filter has been optimized for use with digital sensors and to promote nearly flat attenuation of visible and infrared light. Due to imaging sensors' greater susceptibility to infrared light, compared to traditional film, color casts can occur when photographing darker subjects that require increased exposure times. To provide a high level of neutrality across the visible and infrared spectrums in order to eliminate color casts and ensure cleaner, truer blacks when using the NiSi 82mm PRO Nano IRND 0.9 Filter, one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating is applied to each of this filter's surfaces. The Nano coating associated with this filter also results in an improved beading effect when in contact with water or oil for greater cleaning efficiency.

This NiSi 82mm PRO Nano IRND 0.9 Filter is constructed from optical glass for clarity as well as color fidelity, and features a brass filter ring to minimize the potential for vignetting while enhancing durability and jamming prevention.

0.9 neutral density filter darkens the image, allowing you to photograph with a longer shutter speed or wider aperture than normally required.
Providing a 3-stop exposure reduction, this filter allows you to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
Filter does not affect coloration of the image and is ideal for use with other filters.
Each surface includes one layer of NiSi Optical Nano Coating that attenuates infrared light as well as visible wavelengths, to maintain color neutrality and suppress color casts due to increased exposure times.
Nano coating provides an improved beading effect with water or oil for more efficient cleaning.
Constructed from optical glass for clarity.
Brass filter ring helps to prevent vignetting, jamming, and provides additional strength.
Side knurling to provide a more textured grip when mounting or removing it from a lens.
82mm front filter threads allow for use with other filters.

I have a mirrorless camera that I had converted for IR photography; regular ND filter do not have any effects on exposure; I want to shoot IR with long exposure, will this NiSi IRND do the job?
Asked by: Mohamed
No, the NiSi 82mm PRO Nano IRND 3.0 Filter (10-Stop) would not be compatible for your usage needs. It does the opposite of what you are looking for; it is designed to block IR to the extent that there will not be infrared pollution when taking a long exposure. As an alternative, the filters in the NiSi Swift FS ND Filter Kit (82mm), B&H # NIRFSNDSWK82, are designed to pass all wavelengths of light evenly, so this would also be an alternative for your usage needs. Also, as standard neutral density filters pass along infrared light unless it specifically indicates it has IR reduction, a filter such as the Hoya ProND EX 1000 Filter (82mm, 10-Stop), B&H # HOPNDEX1T82, should also work for your usage needs. https://bhpho.to/3ieQ30o https://bhpho.to/3LZm8bn

Will my lens hood still fit on my lens with this filter?
Asked by: Seiichi
Typically this is determined by the lens in question, but because the front and back are the same diameter, it shouldn't be an issue.

Would this pair well with the Nisi ND-Vario Pro Nano 1-5 stops, to create a variable 4-8 stops ND?
Asked by: David
While the NiSi 72mm PRO Nano IRND 0.9 Filter (3-Stop) does have a front thread, it is not advisable to use two variable ND filters at the same time as it would create undesirable results.

Can this filter be used for solar eclipse photos?
Asked by: seth
No, the NiSi 77mm PRO Nano IRND 3.0 Filter (10-Stop) would not provide enough coverage for solar eclipse photography. You need at least 16 stop ND, preferably with UV/IR cut. Nisi has the following option. https://bhpho.to/3vaPO0g
