Great Quality Scans

I was looking for a good scanner for months. It was more than I wanted to spend, but worth it to get these high quality digital copies of my old photos. It will detect if there is writing on the back of the pictures and scan that too. It lets you compare the original photos with the fixed up ones. Only thing I would change is I wish it could scan documents too.

Works well; set up needs internet connection. Instructions clunky but manageable; had to look in different places to find maximum photos/documents allowed in tray (30,60).

Excellent scanner, mediocre software

Just what I needed to scan all 4000 of our photos. Bundled software though is mediocre. I'd have appreciated a duplicate finder or OCR for documents. Also scanner is not very forgiving of thicker photos like Polaroids. Other than that, solid scanner that does what it's supposed to.

Perfect Scanner For Snapshot Scanning

This scanner is incredibly productive. It gives enough options for image control, resolution, regular and Polaroid photos and other variables. Amazingly fast - it will scan at 600dpi faster than you can load them. Makes digitizing our numerous old family photo albums a realistic possibility.

Worth It. Buy it. Don’t look back.

Scanned 3000 photos. Scanning 6000 more. Worth it. Options are easy, simple. It gets the job done.

Can this scan photos with deckled edges without using the carrier sheet?
Asked by: Preston
I have not tried to scan photos with deckled edges but here is my assessment. This scanner grabs the photo with central rollers and pulls it through the scanner exactly in that alignment with no real need for edges to be against guides. I feed in tiny receipts not touching the edge guides and how I feed them is how they are scanned. I think you could cut the edge with pinking shears and the scanner would pull photos through straight, with no alteration in alignment. The problem would be variation in thickness, not odd edges. The scanner will reject anything thicker than one layer of clear tape repair on the photo but not more. This prevents it from ever pulling two photos through and only scanning one.

Asked by: Sylvia
Yes. It is multi voltage. You will need the correct plug adapter for the country you are in. For Hong Kong click this link: https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/584832-REG/Travel_Smart_by_Conair_NWG14C_NWG_14C_Grounded_Adapter_Plug.html

Can I scan old thicker photos from the early 1900's?
Asked by: Carol
No. This scanner scans fairly heavy photographic paper but no more than that. The scan path is not flat and you won't want to make a crease in an old print.

Asked by: Sylvia
I contacted Epson with your inquiry. They state that yes, the AC power adapter included with the purchase of the Epson FastFoto FF-680W Photo Scanner, MFR # B11B237201, is compatible for use in Hong Kong on the voltage/hertz output power used in Hong Kong. You would simply need a plug adapter to convert the included plug type to the plug type used in Hong Kong.
