Buy the Promedia knob instead, much cheaper and better
Better grip
So far, I prefer the ribbed style knob over the original smooth.
worst profoto gear ever.
horrible. the b2 adapter was much better and was made of plastic. I seriously cannot believe they are still making these. I have 2 b10s that I got a year ago and neither one works at all anymore. the grip teeth are so small that they lasted about 4 months ea before becoming unusable. I have had to come up with creative ways to mount the b10s without using these useless stand adapters.
You've got to be kidding.
This thing is awful. Aside from the tiny, round, slippery knob (which can be replaced with a third-party product) the teeth which hold it in a given position are so shallow that they wear down quickly. It can't even hold a 3' softbox up. They need to recall and replace this. An $1,800 flash is useless if you can't mount it on a stand.
Weak Link
I really love the B10s but this thing is junk. It is obvious that sleek design was put waaaay before function when they made this. The ratcheting within this device is weak and won't hold up to the weight of a medium sized soft box, even when fully tightened the head will give in to the weight and lower itself. Not professional looking at all if you need to stop and struggle with a stupid knob, especially at these prices. This is compounded by the fact that the knob is smooth and gets locked in place. I can't say enough how much I hate this thing.
horrendous!
The knob on this is slippery and impossible to use. Review after review says the same thing....Shameful profoto came up with something so poorly designed. I'm not even going to mention the price they want for this $99 really? It should be the other way around I should get paid for having to put up with this!
profoto has updated this
Profoto updated this stand adapter. I just ordered this 7/5/21 and the knob handle is ribbed and much easier to tighten now. I am not certain if the internal gears are the same or improved. I like how this works and is sleek and quick. I just hope this version lasts longer. Please note if you plan to replace this knob with a Promedia A35 female replacement Knob it won't work with this version. The screw is a larger size in this version.
Not Happy
I barely have used this and its not holding its place on the stand. I feel the gears are shot and I have hardly used it..The round knob you cant get the thing tight. But not only that the death that hold it still are low quality. It will not lock into place ...
