I just purchased Zoom H1n. What In-Ear-Monitor impedance rating(ohms)should I use?

When you use the HOLD on the Zoom H1n, will it prevent the rotary dial from changing the input level?I have FOUR Zoom H1 recorders and use them to record with lav mics. I plug the lav into the Zoom H1, set the record level, start recording, then use the HOLD function and the recorder gets put into a pocket, etc. I'd hate to have the input level change because the knob gets moved while in someone's pocket. Also, I wish it was USB-C instead of microUSB, but that's not a big issue. The other thing I've really been wishing for in the Zoom H1 recorder is a SAFETY TRACK , so when I'm recording with a lav mic (which is mono), the LEFT channel will record at the level I set, and the RIGHT channel will be a few dB lower; allowing me to rescue anything that may have clipped. Basically asynchronous input levels, since I don't really need stereo for a lav mic.
Asked by: Jared
The Hold setting does not prevent the audio dial from adjusting the volume, unfortunately

Yes, the line output from the Zoom H1n Portable Handy Recorder to the mic input on the original Blackmagic Pocket Cinema Camera when using a level matching cable like the Sescom LN2MIC-ZOOMH4N - Line to Microphone Attenuation Cable for HDSLR Cameras (B&H # SEL2MZH4N) and the Sescom LN2MIC-ZMH4-MON Line Out to Camera Mic In Headphone Tap Cable (B&H # SEL2MZH4N25D) to convert line.

Can you record sound from Skype interviews through the USB connection?
Asked by: Anonymous
At least the last time I checked, there were better solutions to this in Skype add-ons. Skype audio is already digitized as part of the call, so you don't need a mic to do that. You just need software that mates up with Skype to be fed the signal for recording.

I need to digitize reel to reel tapes from an old player/recorder. Can this do that? How would it connect, and would I need an interface or would it give decent quality without?
Asked by: Deborah
Most likely you'll want to use a 1/8" to RCA Y cable like this; As for the quality, it should be just fine. You'll probably want to do some testing with input levels but it should be fine. You might get more bit rates to choose from, better meters and monitoring options on a higher end model but this will likely do the trick for you.

What do I order to have an ac wall cord/plug in for this? It doesn't come with one? Also, It needs to plug into a stereo (2- 1/4" jacks... into the zoom) to record the reels. What is the best option (Thanks guys for the previous answer with 1/8"... do I use simple adapter or is there a different cord entirely?) And the single side goes into the zoom, correct? I'm not tech savvy, obviously. Thank you!
Asked by: Deborah
I purchased an APH-1n accessory pack for the Zoom H1n. The ac adaptor is in it, mini tripod, mic handle, foam wind screen, and a nice case. Not bad for $24.99. I don't understand your question about "reels" but I've used a 3.5mm plug from it going into my camera. You can get a stereo adaptor to go from 3.5mm at the Zoom end to 1/4 on your other equipment.

When connected to a computer, can a connected lav mic be used rather than the built-in mic?
Asked by: Christie
Yes, you can use a lav mic. I tested it within Adobe Audition this weekend with a lav mic and it works and records great.

Does it record every touch when use internal mic? That was a big disadvantage of H1. Is it fixed now?
Asked by: Vadim
You mean he is very sensitive and you hear anything that touches him? If this is your question, it is solved with a windshield or by removing the auto option. and using it in manual
