Peak Design Travel Camera Cube Overview

This Travel Camera Cube from Peak Design is part of a compartment system that enhances the ability to organize the contents of a Peak Design Travel-Series bag. Specifically designed to store camera, video, audio, or digital media equipment, its large capacity can accommodate up to three DSLR cameras, each with a battery grip and a 70-200mm f/2.8 lens, or up to three mirrorless cameras and 12 lenses, or up to three medium-sized folding drone kits.

Equipment placed within this Travel Camera Cube's non-abrasive interior can be arranged using its ten padded, touch-tab dividers. A movable, touch-tab pocket is also provided to hold batteries, memory cards, or other small accessories against the inside of this Travel Camera Cube. When placing the Travel Camera Cube itself within a compatible Travel-Series bag, six included Peak Design C-Clips allow it to become a securely mounted compartment. The Travel Camera Cube is then prevented from shifting, and can be made to have its zippered openings align with the Travel-Series bag's own openings for seamless accessibility to the equipment inside.

Complete access to the Travel Camera Cube's interior is enabled by a zippered rear panel, while two zippered side openings complement Travel-Series bags that also feature side openings which are positioned to face the wearer when the bag is rotated from one's back to front with either side facing upward.

While intended to be used as an internal Travel-Series bag compartment, this Travel Camera Cube features durable, weather-resistant nylon construction. A top handle allows it to be securely carried, and accessory loops distributed throughout its exterior can accommodate a separately available strap.

Im slowly adding to my Peak Design collection. I have the medium and large camera cubes now and I love them! They are perfect for my wildlife photography lenses, especially when I travel!

That's the one!

Tried many others, none were great. This one works! And the zippers, they work like magic. Just an idea: Maybe include a small pocket into the inside of the opening lid to store a cable, etc?

Great for carrying gear.

I own the small and medium cubes. Both really good for holding gear. I wish the small cube had a side pocket so I could also use while laying the small cube down at the bottom of the 45liter bag. I don’t like to use it to one side as it weighs the pack awkwardly and becomes hard to carry. Actually would be nice to see another few sizes. Something in between the small and medium or a less depth cube for carrying smaller cameras gear like APSC mirrorless packages.

Good suitcase insert for XBox Series X, bad for photo gear

By Steven

I needed to transport an XBox Series X on a plane and this worked nicely. I also managed to fit a Canon R6 with a Sigma Art 50mm 1.4 lens attached and my beloved Sigma Art 85mm 1.4 lens. The nice thing about this insert is it fits perfectly in a basic Target overhead spinner suitcase. I would love an actual photo suitcase, but the suitcases themselves are expensive crappy suitcases. I can spend $400 for a ThinkTank that's an awful suitcase (no spinner wheels), but great for hauling gear...so long as you don't have to get it through a tight space down the airplane aisle...or spend about $180 to get a cheap suitcase and one of these. So it works well, but is garbage for photo use. The cheap inserts from Neweer work so much better. They just didn't have any that fit an XBox. I know Peak Design has a cult-like following, but they're better at marketing than making things. Everything looks AMAZING in photos, then you actually get one in your hand and you notice the many mistakes: 1. The insert doesn't open all the way. For some reason, it has a 1 lip all around, making it difficult to get things out. 2. The inserts have exposed velcro on the bottom that scratch gear and skin. So if your gear has a corner, it will get scratched. The goal of this is for the gear to come out in the same shape as it came in, not for Peak Design to scratch up your gear because of their poorly thought out design. 3. The padding is stiff and not very padded. This is kind of the worst of both worlds. You get bad protection and the case won't conform to your bag. In contrast, cheaper inserts have thick, nice soft padding. Neweer has a camera cube insert (sold as the Neewer Flexible Partition Camera Padded Bag Insert) just like the Peak Design medium one for a lot cheaper and it's perfection. The top opens all the way, the padding is thick and generous. It's not rigid, only semi-rigid, so it protects perfectly and maintains it's shape, but it can also conform to weird bag shapes a bit, like the telescoping handle at the bottom of your suitcase. Honestly, I'd give it 4 or 5 stars if it just opened all the way. It's SUCH a pain in the behind to get gear in and out of it because of that horrible top lip. The exposed velcro on the bottom of the inserts is HORRIBLE design, but I can work around it by wrapping my lenses in bags. The rigid structure works well for some. If I weren't trying to fit it in another bag, I may even appreciate it. However, the top lip making it hard to get things in and out makes me hate using it. So I was hoping to use it to hold secondary gear, like extra flashes and lighting when I am not traveling. I use my beloved Neweer cube for my lenses and main gear. However, I hate using it so much, I will probably only use it for travel, not for everyday storage.

Bought this after I out grew the small size and it is exactly what I was looking for! Great for stuffing in my carry-on size back back and not needing to worry about the safety of my gear. Allows flexible packing without leaving anything behind.

With the ability to customize the layout with the included divider’s, I can pack a pro body Canon, a 15mm fisheye, a 24-105, a 50mm prime, a Canon 530EXii flash, 2 Godox AD360ii’s with 2 reflector’s, 2 Godox battery pack’s and cable’s, their chargers, an external hard drive, camera batteries and an SD card wallet. Being able to attach it securely into the 45L travel backpack is just icing on the cake. This product is absolutely amazing and I would and have recommend it to anyone and everyone.
