Sonnet Radeon Pro WX 9100 overview

  • 1Description

Connect an external dedicated graphics card to your computer using the power of Thunderbolt 3 with the AMD Radeon Pro WX 9100 Graphics Card Kit with Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box with 650W Power Supply.

Install the AMD Radeon Pro WX 9100 graphics card with 16GB HBM2 VRAM into the Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box via the PCIe 3.0 x16 slot. The GPU is powered by the built-in 650W power supply and cooled by the internal variable-speed fan. After you install the GPU, you can connect the external enclosure to your computer via Thunderbolt 3 (USB Type-C).

  • Sonnet eGFX Breakaway Box with 650W Power Supply

Upgrade your Thunderbolt 3-equipped notebook's graphical capabilities with the eGFX Breakaway Box from Sonnet. The eGFX Breakaway connects to notebooks and ultra-compact desktops via a Thunderbolt 3 connection to provide one PCIe 3.0 x16 slot, so you can install a user-supplied dedicated graphics card for gaming or creating 3D visuals. For broadcasting environments, the slot can accept a video capture card. To support a wide variety of cards, Sonnet has designed the eGFX Breakaway with ample space to house one PCIe card that features a full-length, full-height, and double-width form factor.

Powering the dedicated graphics card and even your notebook can be accomplished with the built-in 650W power supply, which delivers up to 87W of upstream power for recharging your notebook's battery. The power supply sports two 8-pin PCIe power connectors to support PCIe cards requiring up to 375W plus an additional 100W of peak power. Aside from power, the eGFX Breakaway comes outfitted with a variable-speed fan that cools all the internal components while staying quiet. Included along with the eGFX Breakaway is a 1.5' (0.5m) Thunderbolt 3 cable to help you connect with your computer.

Connects a supported GPU card to your eGFX-compatible computer with Thunderbolt 3 ports
Supports AMD Radeon R9 and RX as well as NVIDIA GeForce GTX 7, 9, and 10 series
Compatible with up to full-length, full-height, and single- or double-width card
40 Gbps Thunderbolt 3 interface ensures 2750 MB/s of PCIe bandwidth is dedicated to the installed card
650W power supply has dual 8-pin connectors and can also deliver 87W upstream power to charge your computer
Large built-in, variable-speed, temperature-controlled fan quietly and effectively cools the installed card
Thunderbolt certified for Mac and Windows

  • AMD Radeon Pro WX 9100 Graphics Card

Designed for intense graphic workflows, the AMD Radeon Pro WX 9100 Graphics Card features a 16GB HBM2 frame-buffer with error-correction (ECC) and Vega architecture with 4096 stream processors for a peak single-precision computation rate of 12.29 TFLOPS. This power can be harnessed by compatible APIs such as OpenCL, OpenGL, and Vulkan. Using these API's, the GPU can accelerate graphics rendering and computationally intensive video effects. Applications for this card include, but are not limited to, scientific research in artificial intelligence, development and programming, and game, CGI, as well as VR design.

The output panel of this card contains 6 Mini DisplayPort 1.4 outputs for driving multiple displays or large display walls. With the processing power available inside the WX 9100 card, 8K (8192 x 4320) displays can be driven at up to 30 Hz from a single DisplayPort output and up to 60 Hz from two chained outputs. Connect the card to DisplayPort devices using the four included Mini DisplayPort to DisplayPort adapters. An HDMI adapter is included so you can connect to monitors or television displays at resolutions up to DCI 4K (4096 x 2160). For legacy equipment, a DVI adapter is included as well.

To keep this card cool, AMD implemented a blower-style cooler. By using a radial fan, this system forces air over the components and exhausts it out through the front of the card and out of the case. This cooling configuration can be used in crowded workstation environments with multiple GPUs or where space between computer components can be a concern, as hot air is not recirculated back into the case.

    AMD LiquidVR Technology
Reduced motion-to-photon latency enhances realism and VR presence. With the LiquidVR SDK content creators have powerful development tools to generate VR content.
    10-Bit Color
Native support for 10-bits per color channel assists color-critical tasks such as photo editing and video color-correction by providing a larger visible gamut. 10-bit images require a monitor that supports a 10-bit input.
    FreeSync Technology Support
AMD's FreeSync Technology allows for communication between the graphics card and a monitor with FreeSync support. Having this communication enables the monitor to dynamically adjust its refresh rate to the frame rate being output by the graphics card, thereby greatly reducing tearing, stuttering, and other artifacts.
    TrueAudio Next Technology
AMD TrueAudio Technology allocates GPU processing to audio, allowing for greater overall audio processing for advanced audio sequences, great for games and VR experiences.
    Bezel Compensation
Compensate for bezel interference by stretching the image so it displays evenly across multiple displays, even monitors with thick bezels.
    Partially Resident Textures
Partially Resident Textures allow for graphics memory to behave as a hardware-managed cache. This way only the necessary data to create a scene can be streamed on demand straight from GPU memory, increasing graphics rendering efficiency, especially with large texture libraries.
    Encoding/Decoding Hardware
With specially programmed hardware, the GPU can encode 4K and decode 8K H.265 video files for decreased render times and smoother playback of highly compressed video.
Power management technology which provides direct control over GPU power usage. PowerTune dynamically adjusts clock speed to operate within the power parameters set by the user.
    ZeroCore Power Technology
Shuts down the GPU when not in use to greatly reduce power usage while the card is idle.
