How does this compare with Nodal Ninja NN6?
Asked by: Ralph
This Sunwayfoto head has a much greater load capacity of 17.6 lbs vs 7.7 lbs for the NN 6, but the NN6 has much more precise control over the rotator and the tilting rail. They are similar in most ways.

A User Manual is included in the box with the purchase of the Sunwayfoto 360° VR Panoramic Tripod Head Kit. Unfortunately, Sunwayfoto does not list an online .PDF manual for this item. If you need a replacement .PDF manual, I would recommend contacting the manufacturer directly with your request by e-mailing them at [email protected]

After much reading and searching, I'm still hoping for some clear advice regarding use of this kit for multi-row stitched panoramas with my specific camera kit: Nikon D800e, lenses such as Nikon 14-35/f4, 24/f1.8, 85/f1.8, maybe even 80-200/f2.8. Tripod is either Manfrotto 055X-PROB or Sachtler Ace. Plan to shoot most panoramas with camera in portrait orientation. Would I need to buy any additional parts, such as L-Bracket, additional rails or Arca Swiss plates? Or can I get started with this Sunwayfoto CR-3015A kit as it comes?
Asked by: IVAN
The Sunwayfoto Panoramic Tripod Head Kit is solid enough and well made and I believe that it could work well with standard lenses and in portrait orientation. However, this rig did not come with an Arca-Swiss plate, so I could not use my L-bracket for landscape panos. It comes with a plate on the top rail that screws into the base of your camera, so landscape orientation is not possible. I tried several ways to incorporate an Arca-Swiss plate but not successfully. Sunwayfoto appear to have designed this rig for portrait orientation only, since stacking landscape-oriented shots is not an option. I have not attempted to use a large/heavier telephoto/telephoto zoom lens - and I do not know if the nodal/no parallax rail would be long enough. I have since purchased an (abeit more expensive) Acratech Long Lens Head and an Acratech Levelling Base. I have found that the beautifully made Acrateh combination works really well with the addition of a good, solid rail. I hope this has been of some help.
