Pre-programmed Swelling

I've had my M2P for slightly over three years, and I am convinced that DJI has programmed this highly intelligent battery to swell right about 80 charge cycles. I had THREE batteries swell at the same time (from my original purchase), one with 83 cycles, one with 78 cycles and one with 80. Hmmm... I smell a rat. I never got close to 31 minutes of flying; the best I got was right at 25 but I do have demanding flight requirements. With three batteries per flight hour my hourly operating cost is $6.00 for power alone, plus insurance at $8.00 per hour. Some years ago an inkjet printer manufacturer was found guilty in a class-action suit because the cartridges had a predetermined empty time. No matter how little color printing I did, ALL the cartridges stopped printing and were declared empty within a 24-hour window.. I strongly suspect that this is the case with these batteries. I absolutely love the service with B&H and will continue to use them as my go-to supplier; my first place to seek products. DJI service is well beyond outstanding! (Both get FIVE stars!) But DJI's expensive, low-lifetime batteries are a horrible sticking point and for the first time I am investigating other manufacturers for my commercial drone service.

The last OK if you take care of them

I've had this drone (M2P) for over 3 years now - which was a shock when I realized that. I had 4 batteries that I took good care of - stored partially full - never stored fully empty and set to deplete after 3 days if not used. All 4 suddenly gave up the ghost and started to bloat. Given that the design of the M2 allows the battery to push out of the drone when that happens they had to go, so I have replaced all 4. I know many people have had problems with them not lasting as long. Personally, I usually see that as them being stored in hot cars, or left badly depleted for long periods. Look after them and they will last OK. Air time is decent - probably 22-25 mins of actual flight. Newer drones are getting better but are also a lot more money.

B&H was one of the few places that had these batteries in stock. They were at a fair price and we're shipped to me with no problems.
