Lenovo M720 Overview

  • 1Description

The ThinkCentre M720 SFF Tower Desktop Computer from Lenovo is engineered to work with robust workloads while remaining energy efficient with its 210W power supply and 3.2 GHz Intel Core i7-8700 six-core processor. Coupling this system's multiple cores with its 8GB of DDR4 memory allows you to run various applications simultaneously, so you can get your work done as soon as possible. If you need more RAM for enhanced multitasking, the ThinkCentre M720 SFF's memory can be upgraded to a maximum of 64GB. For long-term storage of your files, a 1TB hard drive offers quick access to your data, and there is an empty 3.5" drive bay for additional internal storage.

Lenovo has built the ThinkCentre M720 SFF with an integrated Intel UHD Graphics 630 chipset, which delivers a sharp and clear picture while allowing for multiple displays to be used via its VGA and DisplayPort outputs. If you'd like to add external storage drives, optical drives, printers, memory card readers, or other peripherals, the M720 SFF features four USB 2.0 ports, two USB 3.1 Gen 1 ports, and two USB 3.1 Gen 2 Type-A ports, as well as a single USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-C port for all your connection needs. In terms of accessing networks or the internet, the ThinkCentre M720 SFF supports Gigabit Ethernet.

For your productivity, Lenovo's ThinkCentre M720 SFF comes with an included USB keyboard and mouse. Furthermore, this desktop tower is also preloaded with a Windows 10 Pro operating system, which provides useful features like Cortana and Windows Continuum. In addition, your data is encrypted and secured via the M720 SFF's Trusted Platform Module.

General Features

USB 3.1 Gen 1
USB 3.1 Gen 1 features a maximum throughput of 5 Gb/s. USB 3.1 Gen 1 and USB 3.0 are synonymous.
USB 3.1 Gen 2
Doubling the speed of its predecessor, USB 3.1 Gen 2 features a maximum throughput of 10 Gb/s when used with compatible devices.
SuperMulti DVD Burner
The SuperMulti DVD Burner supports a wide variety of optical DVD and CD media, including DVD±RW.
2 x DisplayPort | 1 x VGA
The two DisplayPort outputs support resolutions up to 4096 x 2304 @ 60 Hz, while the VGA port supports resolutions up to 2048 x 1536 @ 50 Hz. Up to three independent displays are supported.
Gigabit Ethernet
The system uses an integrated Gigabit Ethernet controller for internet access when connected to a router, modem, or network switch.
Energy Efficient Power Supply
The 210W power supply is 85% efficient, which has earned the ThinkCentre M720 SFF energy efficiency ratings from Energy Star and EPEAT.

Windows 10 Pro

Start Menu
After its hiatus in Windows 8, the Start Menu has returned. Utilizing a combination of the traditional menu system and Windows 8's Live Tiles, the improved Start Menu gives you more information at a glance, showing notification information alongside your applications and other pinned items.
Microsoft's digital personal assistant, Cortana can answer your questions with information gleaned from both your device and the internet at large. You can type or even talk with her, if your system has a microphone. Using her Notebook, Cortana keeps track of your needs and wants, and she learns over time to improve her information gathering skills.
Microsoft Edge
After nearly 20 years, Microsoft has finally replaced its Internet Explorer web browser. With Microsoft Edge, users can write directly on web pages and share notes with friends and colleagues. It also improves the online reading experience by adding a distraction-free mode and read-it-later functionality. Edge also has built-in Cortana integration; you can have her help you find a restaurant, make a reservation, and pull up directions without leaving your browser.
Windows Store
For Windows 10, Microsoft has unified the Windows Store. Now, apps for PCs, tablets, and phones will all be accessible from one place. And with support for Universal Apps, one version of an app can work across all your compatible devices automatically.
Windows Continuum
Windows 10 was designed for a variety of screen sizes and input styles, and with its Continuum feature, it automatically adapts to fit your needs. A Windows 10 tablet on its own requires a touch-centric approach, but attaching a mouse and keyboard will shift everything to a more traditional interface. You can even attach an external monitor to your Windows 10 phone for a near-desktop experience. But it's not just the operating system; Windows Universal Apps take advantage of Continuum as well.
Xbox on Windows 10
Gaming is a big focus of Windows 10. Xbox integration allows for PC players to match up against Xbox One players on supported games, and if you have an Xbox One, you can even stream compatible titles to your PC. Native support for recording with the new Game DVR feature makes it easy to capture and share your gameplay. The new DirectX12 takes better advantage of multi-core processors, giving games a performance boost, even on older hardware. Windows 10 also features native support for virtual reality headsets, such as the Oculus Rift.
Windows 10 Pro
The Pro version of Windows 10 includes all of the features of Windows 10 Home plus many designed specifically for business users, including Hyper-V virtualization, BitLocker disk encryption, and remote desktop access. Devices will also be able to join domains and the Azure Active Directory, and they can even access a specialized version of the Windows Store featuring custom, company-specific applications.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing performing desktop for everything This desktop is replacing a desktop from another company that has a fruit as a logo. That was an excellent machine. That company cannot replicate this Lenovo Ideacentre 720 for the money. This desktop is a fantastic PC! A very nice feature on this computer is the fact that I can play great games with no issues. I bought an Acer Predator XB272 monitor. This monitor is perfect for this Nvidia card. G-Sync and 1080p go very well with this computer's hardware. I have been playing Assasin's Creed Odessey with zero issues. The game plays very smooth and no lag. The PC also runs pretty cool, although I'm sure it's working hard to play the game. Daily use is excellent. I use Chrome for browsing. I also use it as my home's network, and it broadcasts via Plex to my TV much much better than the computer this replaces. The one drawback to this Lenovo machine is Windows. I did get the Windows blue screen of death recently. I managed to reset the computer and get everything back working well. Lenovo has simple instructions in their support site, and the videos made it very easy. I have read other reviews with customers blaming Lenovo. Well, it's not Lenovo, it is a Microsoft issue. I will strongly recommend any Lenovo product to anyone looking for a computer. Their laptops are excellent, and their Smart Display is a great product. I'm looking forward to many years of using this PC at home. I hope I can learn how to do many other things like picture and video editing to give this computer a workout. I'm sure it'll handle anything I can throw at it. Way to go on a great product Lenovo. (Claps hands) Did I mention this desktop is a beautiful machine? I don't know who picks out the colors and the design; they are beautiful machines!

Rated 1 out of 5 by from shutting down amazing how things work. i was in the middle of writing a 5 star review about how well this computer was working, how it was easy to set up right out of the box and everything worked fantastic. sadly i didnt get to finish that review because in the middle of it i got a blue screen ( not the blue screen of death ) that said, shutting down. so you dont get a great review when the machine quits while writing the review. i hope this is not a sign of things to come.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great Speed I use a program which uses a lot of graphics and large volume indexing and the IdeaCentre 720 is able to load fast under these conditions. Does great with multiple programs running at the same time.
