Timbuk2 Stark Commuter Messenger Bag reviews

Stark Commuter Messenger Bag (Jet Black) is rated 3.9 out of 5 by 17.
Rated 3 out of 5 by from Just Okay-Better Options Out There A good looking small bag for light daily use. A few weeks after receiving it the bottom zipper broke. A few weeks after that the strap became entangled and cant be adjusted. After messing with it for a few days I gave up and now I have a too long strap with a knot in it. I'd use this if I ONLY had to carry a laptop and a few light items. This is not the kind of bag that you want to use as a business traveler or if you have more than a few goods. I wouldn't trust it on a bike either. The built in rain shell is handy but to be honest I'm waiting for it to tear off. Look out for other options versus this "in looks only" bag.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Looks great, could be a LOT better I agree with a previous reviewer about this site not being clear that this bag is a wear-over-the-back-only messenger bag. But even resolving oneself to that, trying to put this thing on and taking it off is going to take a lot of practice. It's not as easy as it looks in the video (note there is an edit needed before the guy actually swings it over and snaps the clasp). Also, tightening the strap after swinging the bag on is not as shown in the video either; the video actually shows the guy moving the excess strap and not actually tightening the strap as it might appear. On a positive note, the bag looks nice and my Macbook Pro 15" fits nicely.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Quality Product, Would Recommend! We use the product to carry laptop, iPad, paperwork, etc. to and from work on a daily basis. The bag is great quality, looks sharp and holds up really well! However, in terms of roominess it is tight - you won't be able to fit a lot of books in it for school, and even a laptop is a bit tight in terms of fit. The pockets are great, would be nice to be able to fit eyeglasses in there as well, not really possible along with laptop. Carrying a messenger bag on the back is new to us, but actually functions well for us - something we hadn't really considered before. Would be really great for a commuter or somebody riding a bicycle. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 2 out of 5 by from Poor quality strap clip I was excited to get my bag in the mail. I literally took it out of the package flipped it over and tried to adjust the back shoulder strap so I unsnapped the clip to adjust, then when I snapped it back into the holder the plastic leg on the clip broke. I literally had the bag for about 5 minutes. Most of the Timbuk2 bags have a clip with a solid leg. I loved the style of the bag but couldn't justify keeping it when i could see this clip was really flimsy. I returned it. Very disappointing.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from not as expected I was very excited to see this bag and pulled the trigger immediately, but on its arrival, I found that being attractive is the only good thing about it. Let me get to the point straightly, this is a cycling bag guys, you can't use it for any other purpose (which is fine if you want to cycle all the time, but the description didn't mention this, right? at least I thought I can use it as cross body). The bag is stylish, but the word stylish is subjected to how the designer define it. In here, Stylish has to be wearing the bag on your back. There is basically no other way to wear it. The shoulder pad is fixed on one side of the shoulder strap. This is comfortable if you like the bag hugging you closely on the back, but not if you want to relax the shoulder strap to wear it cross body, in which case the shoulder strap will be basically either hanging on your back, or on your belly. The bag is said to give you (on the website): "Confidence at the board meeting". Well imagine that you are wearing suit to a board meeting, and the only way to wear this bag is for it to be on your back, and the shoulder strap is so tight that you'll have to kiss your wrinkle free suit goodby. Okay, fine, let's wear the bag cross body with the shoulder pad like a big patch on your back or on your belly. Then I found that I have no way to make the shoulder strap long enough, I am not tall, 5'8. I extended the strap to its full length, and the bag is still stubbornly hanging above my waist. I am giving it 3 stars purely for the designer's effort.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Always happy with Timbuk2 bags, but concerns with this one. As someone that loves Timbuk2 products, I was very excited to receive this bag. The last Timbuk2 bag was from almost 10 years ago when my laptop was very bulky and needed a bigger bag. I still use that bag for day trips, but was excited to get one for a slimmer laptop. This bag looks slick and I love the fast magnetic closures, but right away there were noticeable scuffs on it the front. Also, the inclusion of a rain fly makes me wonder if this bag is water resistant at all or if the fly is for protection the open sides from the elements. Also, would be nice if the bag separated the laptop section like some other bags for ease through TSA, but I understand this bag is meant for bike commute than work trips. Rated 4 out of 5 by from My new go-to messenger bag I use it for commuting to and from work on a daily basis. I walk to/from work 15-20 minutes a day and the material of this bag makes it perfect whether it is rain or shine. This messenger bag is perfect for that. The bag is very spacious and I really enjoy that it comes with a laptop sleeve. It fits nicely in there and is great to have in case I end up having to bring work home with me. I've been using the bag for a few weeks now and it seems to be very high quality and durable. I especially appreciate the latching system that they use. I don't have to worry about my bag popping open or anything accidentally falling out because it is very secure. The bag itself is very spacious and it has a lot of pockets of varying sizes which makes it easy to keep things organized. The color and design of the bag and very stylish as well. There are a couple cons for the bag for me. The shoulder pad is attached at the base and doesn't slide along the strap. That means the bag sits really high on my back to have the shoulder pad in the right position. If I were to adjust it to wear the bag more on my hip, then the shoulder pad is all the way in the middle of the back. It really doesn't provide good shoulder support if I were to do that. Also, the two front pockets are a bit too small for my liking. Overall, the bag is excellent. I'm really, really happy with it and it has replaced the messenger bag I was using previously. I would absolutely recommend this to anyone [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great commuter bag, on and off the bike! This bag is SOLID!! It's made from 940D Cordura Nylon, which is not going to rip. I don't question it durability at all. I love the extras with this that you don't catch at first. The strap lets the bag sit close to the body. It feels really natural when I'm riding my bike around town. There's a dedicated rear loop for when I'm riding at night. It has lots of pockets along with a dedicated laptop sleeve. The style also looks great going into work with it it's solid, sleek design. So, it makes for a really nice commuter bag. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]
