Timbuk2 Robin Commuter Backpack reviews

Robin Commuter Backpack (Jet Black) is rated 4.6 out of 5 by 34.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love the Robin Pack! I spend most of my day away from home and needed a backpack that could carry all my things: my workout clothes (including shoes), lunch and snacks for the day, a book, my iPad and keyboard, and a water bottle. Everything fits comfortably in the backpack, and the strap and back support makes the load feel much lighter than it is. The backpack holds it's shape even when there's nothing inside, and the material is incredibly durable. The attached rain cover is really handy and practical. Only complaint is that the side pockets are quite stiff, and if you have a large water bottle it can sometimes be a struggle to fit it in the side pocket if the main compartment is completely stuffed. Other than that I absolutely love the backpack.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Stylish, sleek, high quality but lacks organization Its really a great backpack and the Timbuk2 description is accurate. Its truly 20 liters and makes for a great day pack. Other people have claimed that its too small, but if you understand what a 20 liter pack holds, its the perfect size. If I was simply traveling through a city and needed to pack my umbrella, camera, jacket with room to spare, this pack would be my go-to. The material feels heavy duty and will likely not tear or rip. The quality of the material also gives it a rigid shape. If you're looking at the pictures, that rigid sleek shape is true to form whether the pack is full or empty. The one draw back so far about the pack is the lack of organizational compartments. Each pocket is simply a pocket. There are no card or pen holders within the pockets. Your passport or wallet is simply thrown in with pens, keys, flashlights, etc.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Almost perfect: Just a Bit Too Small & an awkward closure I tried out a Robin pack while on the hunt for an everyday pack that was more compact than my beloved but large Especial Tres. The Robin is well constructed, stylish and comfortable to wear. The laptop pocket is big enough to fit a 14" Thinkpad and just fits a 2016 15" MacBook Pro (without a case or sleeve on it). The back padding provides excellent airflow and is great for riding. The included rain cover is a great addition and you can actually put a couple necessities in that bottom pocket like a spare tube and mini pump. However, a couple things led me to return this bag. 1) It comes in at 20 liters and I now know for my daily needs I need something at least 22 or 24 liters. On an average day I'll pack a laptop, shoes, change of clothes, lunch, a u-lock, a spare tube and a mini-pump- and all of this *just* fits in this bag. If I wanted to pick up anything at the store on the way home I'd have to figure out another way to carry it. 2) Although I think the magnetic flap top is a cool idea- I found it to be problematic. Oftentimes I would find that once I had one side secure, it would come undone while I was trying to secure the other side. Maybe this would improve over time as the material of the flap breaks in, but it was frustrating and did not give me a lot of confidence that the top would stay closed during my commute. Again, I think the Robin is a great bag for anyone who doesn't carry a lot, but I'm hoping Timbuk2 makes a sleek Edge or Especial rolltop in that 25 liter range. Right now the Robin is the only bag in those series (with their great cycling ergonomics) that is sub 30 liters, less than 11 or 12" wide and 20" or taller.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Great purchase and very stylish I bought this for my middle schooler during Christmas break. It's well designed, fashionable, and ergonomic. He loved it so much, he wore it everywhere! It fit a lot more than expected, so it was convenient for travel. He trekked around the city and did a few hikes with it as well, carrying all of our convenient items comfortably. Love it!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from High Quality Functional Bag This bag is quite nice. It is stylish and functional. It is a very high quality bag and you can tell that the craftsmanship is top notch. I am using it as an everyday bag to take to work with my computer and everyday essentials and everything fits great and it is super light weight. It's sleek and sexy. I wouldn't recommend this as a camping bag but as an everyday bag it has enough pockets to fit my things and doesn't feel to large or bulky. Overall this is a great bag and I would highly recommend it to anyone looking for a sleek looking everyday high-end backpack. [This review was collected as part of a promotion.]

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it!! I took this with me to Iceland. It was my carry-on/personal item. Held 2 cameras, laptop, hard drive and all the chargers, cables, and related mess. And in-flight essentials. Used it on hikes and the rain cover made it storm-proof! The way the top closes was a bit tedious at times. But the stylish and compact looks make up for it! Bag is not super light, but it's strong and a comfortable fit.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Not much to say...Amazing bag This bag is, plainly put, sexy. That's why you are spending the time to look at reviews and pictures...Let's move past the beautiful aesthetics. The bag has a great back pad, awesome straps, and nice room for 13-15" laptop (my Razer blade 15" fits perfectly in the sleeve). The downsides are the volume ( wish it was .5L bigger) since it can't fit much besides my batter pack, power cable, and a rolled up raincoat. This is 100% a day pack at best. The biggest concern for me is lack of a functional pocket that can have a basic organizer for business cards, pens, pencils, gum, headphones, etc. As of right now everything is just thrown in together so it quickly becomes a mess of...Stuff.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Throw away the diaper bag - now I'm a stylish mom on the go! I have a one year old daughter and have been lugging a bulky diaper bag around everywhere I go since she was born. The Robin Pack is a great alternative! It has plenty of pockets and storage space for all the required baby items. The fabric is easy to clean if there are any spills. It is a comfortable/stylish backpack that frees up my hands and fits comfortably for this mom on the go. It is also great for hikes, traveling, and since I live in Orlando, days at the theme park. The best part is that since it's so versatile, I will be able to use it long after I'm done with a diaper bag! Love this item, and wish I'd found it a year ago!
