Key Features
  • Load Capacity: 11 lb
  • Maximum Height: 15.5"
  • Minimum Height: 4.2"
  • Folded Length: 10.4"
The CTT-1000 Carbon Fiber Tabletop Tripod from Oben is a three-section support with carbon fiber-constructed legs, which have twist leg locks that turn and enable you to extend the legs to a maximum height of 15.5". Even with the legs fully extended, you can remove the ball head and screw on the included three-section extender that adds 12" in height. This extender places a camera at a higher shooting angle for recording an interview or shooting a portrait. To supplement more stability to the 0.98 lb tripod, the legs splay further out to a minimum height of 4.2". Removing the extender, collapsing the legs, and placing the head back onto the legs gives the tripod a folded length of 10.4". Each leg has a rubber foot, which prevents the tripod from sliding on smooth surfaces and the rubber feet are removable, which reveal spikes to stabilize the support on soft terrain.

The dual-action ball head is Arca-type compatible. You can unlock the movement and position your camera at a 90° angle with the cut notch located on the side of the head. The head also rotates 360°, which allows a camera weighing up to 11 lb, to follow a subject freely with ease when the pan lock is unlocked. Additionally, the ball head includes a quick release plate with a 1/4"-20 camera mount.

Oben CTT-1000 Reviews

I've Been Looking For This

When I'm photographing spring wildflowers I need to get the camera anywhere from on the ground to about 18 high. I have tried using a full size tripod and removing the center column and flattening the legs. That works but the combination is so large its a chore to move around through the forest. I have a Cullman tabletop tripod but its legs are not adjustable for height or angle. I tried a inexpensive flex leg but it could not handle the weight of my Panasonic S5ll with the various lens I use Sigma 105 micro, Panasonic 70-200 f4, Panasonic 14-28. The Oben CTT-1000 is my solution. I was worried the ball head would not hold the weight of my camera & lens up to 4 #. CTT1000 is rated at 6#. It does a great job but I am careful to balance the weight. I had to reverse the foot on my 70-200 f4 and other lens I use a 100 mm Arca Swiss plate to center it over the tripod. I was using the cutout on the ballhead to get portrait mode but found the camera lens weight would loosen the Arca Swiss plates attachment screw. So I use an L bracket. The 70-200 collar rotates so no L plate is needed. The Oben with the legs flattened one click will hold the 70-200 easily and the little ball head does not creep or rotate when the panorama screw is tightened. The leg locks are easily tightened and they have a good deep knurling that allows a secure grip. The leg angle release mechanisms are finely crafted with 3 positions. They are not spring loaded but I quickly became accustomed to their use. The legs have 3 sections and the feet have finely machined points and heavy rubber boots that snap securely in place. There is a 3 section extension column included but I have not had to use it but it feels quite strong. The extension stores in a separate pocket on the outside of the included drawstring nylon pouch. The extension pocket has velcro to seal it up. The ball head is removed from the legs and screwed to extension column and the combination screwed back on the legs. Just for laughs I put a mini ball head with 1/4 screw on the legs and then put the extension column with ball head on that for a makeshift lateral extension. the problem was its balance was off center. Oben has an optional extra cost lateral extension column that has a neat sliding bracket that screws to the legs and it has a hook for a counter weight. It was so elegant that I had to buy that as well. Everything about this gem exhibits great care in manufacture, selection of materials and engineering.

Very good small tripod

I bought this tripod for times when I want to get down low and not have to be a bent, kneeling, or squatting position for a long period of time (I'm not as young as I used to be). I'm using a Canon R5m2 with a 15-35 RF lens on it, so it can handle the weight. However, I do suggest using your own L-bracket or base plate for these larger cameras as the one that's included isn't sturdy enough.

Has anyone carried this on an airplane flight? It seems like the perfect travel tripod but I worry about the spikes with TSA.
Asked by: Tom
I won't think it would be a problem, but if you had to, you could check it at the gate. Make sure you have it in a nice padded bag.

It comes in a thin cardboard case (2.3/4" x 4.1/2" x 12") with a foam insert which keeps the parts tidily and nicely.

In all the videos I've seen, each sub-segment of the legs is either fully extended or fully retracted. I anticipate doing a lot of macro work on uneven surfaces; can the leg segments be locked at intermediate lengths, or is each all-or-none? Thanks.

Yes, each one can be adjusted and locked independently.
