Hi I will like to know how bad is the thermal throttling of this drive compared with the G-Technology 500GB G-DRIVE mobile Pro Thunderbolt 3 External SSD. I just need a drive thats powerfoul enough it can handle VR development without a huge drop in performance. I have been researching a lot, because I want to make a good investment, but I have found until now that the drive has a significant drop in performance when it starts to heat. Also saw that in MAC the drive is slower than in a pc, I dont understand the reason why? Thanks
Asked by: Camilo
This would be heavily dependent on specific use case scenario's. As far as temperatures go throttling under non stop usage is to be expected on any media transferring at this rate.

I have a 2015 macbook pro and a newer 2018 macbook pro. This boots right up using Thunderbolt 3 on the newer macbook pro. I purchased a USB-C to USB3.0 cable to use this on the 2015 macbook pro (running Sierra) and it didn't mount. Is this a cable issue or software issue? I can't seem to find a Thunderbolt3 to Thunderbolt2 cable. They have TB2 to TB3 cables (sold by Apple), but not the other way around.

Has Samsung fixed their Catalina issue? Any idea what will happen when Big Sur is released?
Asked by: Anonymous
Yes, Samsung has addressed the issues that were present in Catalina. It should still work on Big sur but since that is not out yet, we would need to wait and see. As always, it is best practice to not upgrade the OS right away and wait until issues are addressed.
