Nissin i400 Reviews

Compact Powerful

The i400 is a small but powerful flash for its size. The feature that I like best is that you can adjust the flash output without having to go through a menu list. A lot of my shooting requires uncomplicated and fast flash compensation. Just a quick turn of the dial on the back of the unit changes flash compensation. Plus Nissin flashes are high quality units, well worth the money spent.

Good product, bigger than SB-400, but can rotate the head

I have the SB-400. Bought this since I do need to rotate the head horizontally in lot of cases for lateral bounced flash.

I had the original i400 and kept forgetting to pack it with different bodies for outings.... I added this one to keep at the ready in the bag. Surprisingly powerful and diffuse. I bought the original one as a small rig for fill-flash duties but found myself using it for much more. Very accurate ttl on my Fuji bodies and I've come to trust them very much.

Decent small flash

Works well enough for my needs. My one complaint is that it can be tricky to close the door for the battery compartment. I bought the flash to help illuminate macro shots outside and with the built in reflector and diffuser it functions well.

Nice little flash but.....

I like this flash because of its compact shape and small size. However there are 2 demerits: it over-exposes on my Z7 by 1-2 stops and the battery door is just too fiddly for words and I anticipate it may not last long.

Better but bigger than SB-400

I bought this flash to be used in my second Z camera as I want a small one for travel in my pocket. The first Z camera uses the SB-400. It is about 20% bigger than the SB-400, more powerful and and can swivel 180 degree while the SB-400 cannot. It uses 4xAAA batteries instead of the 2 for SB-400. It has Auto, TTL and Manual mode, built in diffuser and white card reflection. It is also much cheaper new than a used SB-400.
