The red RF-C12R Professional Desktop Isolation Filter from Auray is a desktop solution that allows music producers, broadcasters, and podcasters to get better recordings by isolating a microphone from vibrations and sound reflections, especially when its used in a space that is less than ideal for capturing audio. The Auray Desktop Isolation Filter makes capturing clean, dry vocals or instruments more natural sounding with less sonic coloration.

The RF-C12R fits on a desk or tabletop and uses multi-layer acoustic treatment to absorb unwanted ambient noise and control acoustic reflections. So, if you're recording vocals, voiceovers, or podcasts in an untreated room with hard surfaces, the RF-CF20 provides advanced microphone isolation.

Microphone Isolation

Recording, broadcasting, or podcasting in rooms with little-to-no acoustic treatment can wash-out vocal or instrument audio recordings with echo reflections. The Auray Desktop Isolation Filter fits on your desk or tabletop and minimizes reflections of unwanted noise bouncing off hard surfaces from entering your microphone. Usually, expensive acoustic foam is required on walls for your room to sound dry. With this reflection filter, you capture what you want in your own room or workspace.

Multi-Layer Acoustic Treatment

Multiple layers of acoustic treatment help to isolate your vocal and instrument recordings. A thick layer of composite fiber surrounds your microphone and absorbs unwanted reflections as well as any noise coming in from the room. A layer of acoustic fabric and a molded-vented polymer shield help deaden and disperse sound waves, leaving you with clean and dry recordings with little to no coloration.

Adjustable Mic Depth

The RF-C12R allows the microphone depth to be adjusted so you can dial in the right amount of room ambience. Easily slide the microphone closer to the filter for less pickup of room noise or slide the microphone away to add space in your audio recording.

Filter Stand

The Auray Desktop Isolation Filter is mounted on its own stand. This allows you to place your filter and mic setup on a desk or tabletop, which is ideal for recording vocals, doing live podcasts, or broadcast applications. It's a portable option for doing recordings on the go. The isolation filter's height is adjustable from 7.25 to 9.1". (18.4 to 23 cm), and can accommodate all sizes—short or tall—to optimize mic placement when capturing audio.

Auray RF-C12R Reviews

Effective, nice value, two issues

I bought this to use with a Blue Yeti Nano condensor mic to teach via Zoom in an untreated room. For example, it isolates my mic from sporadic Mac mini fan noise. It's a nice size and a good value, and I'm keeping it. There are two issues. First, the locking ring nearest the mic interferes with my mic's provided USB cable. The USB connection is what usually breaks for any product, so one wants to avoid cable stress here. One can buy cables that end in straight, left, right, up, and down connectors. A right connector solved this problem for me. Think about this, and order an appropriate cable. (This will no longer be an issue once my Radius III suspension mount arrives, but that was back-ordered.) Second, the four foot rings didn't lie flat. If one studies the base, there are two screws underneath. When they are fully tightened, one loses control of the feet position. However, one can partially tighten these screws, so the base isn't floppy and lies flat. This is typical of products in this price range; manufacturing tolerances from third-party manufacturers are always worse in production than for the prototype samples. Only truly cynical engineers can design defensively for this effect. I can imagine a more sophisticated screw connection, but it would add five bucks to the price. As the demonstration video makes clear, Auray engineers are very smart, but too good-natured to have seen this coming.

Great for on location Voice overs or Podcasting

The Auray Desktop Iso filter has quickly become something I always bring with me if there is any possibility of voice over work on location. It packs up small and assembles within a couple minutes which is great when doing remote voice over work going into my laptop setup. This is very well made and should put up with my transporting it all over the place. I could also see this working really well for podcasting or a really nice zoom/teams/google video setup. I am going to get a desk arm eventually and mount this for an awesome desk setup. Once setup and your mic is at the right height this thing works great. (It's pretty easy to get the mic into the exact position you need it in.) I get a nice clean dry sound even in some tough rooms to work in. This comes in grey and red. Personally I love how the red pops. Overall, I really enjoy what this filter brings to the table. It gave me a much easier way to get clean VO's quickly on site and anything that saves me time and gives me a better end result I am all for. I received this item in exchange for my honest review.
