Standard wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens is designed for use with full-frame Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras.
Constant f/4 maximum aperture maintains consistent illumination throughout the zoom range.
Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.
An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by five stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.
Nano USM system utilizes both a ring type USM and an STM mechanism to realize quick and accurate focusing that is also smooth and near-silent to suit both photography and video applications. This focusing system also affords full-time manual focus control when working in the one-shot AF mode.
Configurable Control Ring can be used to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.
As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens has a weather-resistant design that protects against dust and moisture to enable its use in inclement conditions.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Reviews

Worth every penny

This is more than a kit lens. It is sharp and versatile, with good color. It is easy to travel with, and affords a lot of flexibility. Yes, at times I wish I had the 24-70 f/2.8, but given the difference in price (and the extra half pound in weight for the 24-70) I am very happy with the lens. It has the ability to make some memorable images. Fabulous walk-around lens! It doesn't disappoint.

I love this lenses. it is a great travel lenses. very versatile, but with no compromise in quality and speed. autofocus is lightning fast. it is sharp, renders very nicely and not on the heavy side. great for portrait, closeup, landscape and all general use. it is even not as pricey for what you get. so very recommended!

I had just replaced my Canon 70D with a Mirrorless R camera, and wanted a walk-a-round less that took best advantage of the full frame capability of the R. I was not at all disappointed! The lens is a bit narrower than the 18-135 it was replacing, but I haven't even noticed a difference in everyday use. The images it produces are very sharp and full of color. The body of the lens is exceptionally robust and the extension/retraction of the barrel is firm and smooth. Focusing is very quick and quiet. I've yet to run into an everyday situation where I don't have enough reach, or can focus on relatively close objects, so I'm very happy with my decision and don't regret the expense at all.

Can't Call This A Kit Lens!

When I bought my first full-framed Canon 5Diii, I purchased a refurbished Canon EF 24-105mm f/4, and it served me well as a favorite go to and my first red ring lens. I went through the generations of 1DX cameras using the EF 24-105mm, even to the newly purchased Canon R3s Well, I sold that lens to buy the RF version of the 24-105mm, and glad I did. Though, still an f/4, the lower ISO noise from the R3s makes for a more perfect match, especially for my sports photography for both indoors and out. While the zoom twist is a bit stiffer, at least the barrel stays in place, when in active use, though a lock switch is available. I have set the Control Ring to make quick adjustments to ISO when I shoot in Manual. This RF lens does carry a stiffer price, than when first introduced. My only regret was not to have purchased it sooner. Highly recommended for all Canon camera bags.

Perfect for my needs. Good range for a walkaround lens. Sometimes I just want a camera and a lens and leave all the other stuff at home. This fills that need on either my R6 or R5. Makes a nice travel lens if you aren't planning on shooting a lot of wildlife.

Excellent

Smaller, lighter and sharper than the EF.

If you like using polarizers, the convenience of the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Circular Polarizer Filter might be enough to sway you towards the older lens.

How does it compared to Rf 24-70 f2.8 L in terms of image quality, sharpness, and details of images
Asked by: Philip
As I do not own or have any experience with the RF 24-70 F2.8 lens, I can only speak to the merits of the one I do own, the 24-105 f4 L. As stated by others, I find the F4 L to be very sharp and crisp, with good contrast, and it delivers amazing image quality. I believe you would not regret buying it, realizing that a significant price difference between it and the 24-70 f2.8 does not necessarily translate into higher quality.
