Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Reviews
Well worth the $$
I had just replaced my Canon 70D with a Mirrorless R camera, and wanted a walk-a-round less that took best advantage of the full frame capability of the R. I was not at all disappointed! The lens is a bit narrower than the 18-135 it was replacing, but I haven't even noticed a difference in everyday use. The images it produces are very sharp and full of color. The body of the lens is exceptionally robust and the extension/retraction of the barrel is firm and smooth. Focusing is very quick and quiet. I've yet to run into an everyday situation where I don't have enough reach, or can focus on relatively close objects, so I'm very happy with my decision and don't regret the expense at all.
L is for Legacy
This is the first L glass I've owned and shot with. It certainly lives up to it's name. The lens is well built, feels nice in the hands and balances well on my R6. The lens is sharp, fast, and quiet. I've own this lens for 3 days now and I've shot several videos and pictures of my family. Lovely lens for an all around general purpose.
Solid lens to cover you between your ultra wide angle and telephoto lenses. I use this with the r5 and no complaints.
From DSLR to Mirrorless, my work horse lens for 15 years.
The RF version of the Canon 24-105mm f/4 L IS USM Lens is even better than the original DSLR version. Lighter, Shorter, and Sharper. If I could have only one lens, the Canon 24-105mm f/4 L would be my first choice and has been for over 15 years. Very well suited to my shooting style. There has to be a very good reason for me to use any other lens.
Received a faulty lens
I was excited to receive this lens but as soon as I removed it from it's box I noticed immediately that it rattled and felt like things were moving around inside of the lens. I have contacted B and H and I am returning the lens. Hoping the replacement will be much better. Certainly not the build quality that I am used to from Canon.
My Go-To lens for almost everything
I love the sharpness and versatility of this lens, especially in my studio! I use it on my Canon R6, and the EF version on my Canon 5DIV. Thanks B&H for your great customer service!
Can't Call This A Kit Lens!
When I bought my first full-framed Canon 5Diii, I purchased a refurbished Canon EF 24-105mm f/4, and it served me well as a favorite go to and my first red ring lens. I went through the generations of 1DX cameras using the EF 24-105mm, even to the newly purchased Canon R3s Well, I sold that lens to buy the RF version of the 24-105mm, and glad I did. Though, still an f/4, the lower ISO noise from the R3s makes for a more perfect match, especially for my sports photography for both indoors and out. While the zoom twist is a bit stiffer, at least the barrel stays in place, when in active use, though a lock switch is available. I have set the Control Ring to make quick adjustments to ISO when I shoot in Manual. This RF lens does carry a stiffer price, than when first introduced. My only regret was not to have purchased it sooner. Highly recommended for all Canon camera bags.
Love the range
Haven't really tested the sharpness.
