Standard wide-angle to telephoto zoom lens is designed for use with full-frame Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras.
Constant f/4 maximum aperture maintains consistent illumination throughout the zoom range.
Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.
An Optical Image Stabilizer helps to minimize the appearance of camera shake by five stops to better enable working in low-light conditions and with slower shutter speeds.
Nano USM system utilizes both a ring type USM and an STM mechanism to realize quick and accurate focusing that is also smooth and near-silent to suit both photography and video applications. This focusing system also affords full-time manual focus control when working in the one-shot AF mode.
Configurable Control Ring can be used to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.
As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens has a weather-resistant design that protects against dust and moisture to enable its use in inclement conditions.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Canon RF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Reviews

Received a faulty lens

I was excited to receive this lens but as soon as I removed it from it's box I noticed immediately that it rattled and felt like things were moving around inside of the lens. I have contacted B and H and I am returning the lens. Hoping the replacement will be much better. Certainly not the build quality that I am used to from Canon.

Better than expected!

I was using an older EF 24-105mm lens with my Canon R6 (and EF-RF adapter). The lens creep became so bad with this older lens, I just knew I had to upgrade. I finally bought the RF 24-105mm f/4 lens, and I was surprised at how much faster the focusing was with this RF lens. Not only that, but this lens has a Lock feature now, so I can make sure the telephoto part of the lens in locked in while I'm walking around scouting out my next composition. The Control Ring on the end of the lens, is now setup for handling my exposure compensation, and is so much easier to adjust now. I'm more then happy with my upgrade, and now wish I'd switched sooner.

Super !

Great lens. I used that lens for many situations. Very sharp, IS works perfect, autofocus is fast.

I have not used this lens very extensively yet; I'm still using the RF 100-500 the most (for birding/nature photography) but I'm expecting to use this lens a lot in the fall and winter for landscapes/portraits, etc. I'm excited to see how its going to perform.

Its a Must Have lens

I been through two of these in the EF version from the original 5D through the 5DSR. Its real workhorse lens that was always in my bag no matter what I was shooting. I use other EF L glass via adapters very happily on an R5. But for some reason not the EF 24-105. I sold my last EF version of his lens. After about a year of working without it I had to add the RF version back to my bag. Why did I wait so long?? I'm very happy with other RF glass I have that falls somewhere in the 24-105 range. I have the 35mm f/1.8, 85mm f/2.0 and the 24-240mm. I like and will keep all of those lenses for special tasks where they excel, but this RF 24-105 will have a full time place in my bag for a long time... its a new version of my old reliable.

it is an awesome lens

Let’s compare the EF Canon 24-105mm II f4L with EF to R adapter, to the the Canon RF 24-104mm: which lens is optically superior, i have the EOS R and an EF adapter, and was wondering which lens is truly better, optically, fast focus, JimW

If you like using polarizers, the convenience of the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Circular Polarizer Filter might be enough to sway you towards the older lens.

Does this lens operate in the multiple exposure mode of a canon R5?

Thanks for your quick response. This is good to know because multiple exposure is not supported in the non-L series, 24-105 lens.

How does it compared to Rf 24-70 f2.8 L in terms of image quality, sharpness, and details of images
Asked by: Philip
As I do not own or have any experience with the RF 24-70 F2.8 lens, I can only speak to the merits of the one I do own, the 24-105 f4 L. As stated by others, I find the F4 L to be very sharp and crisp, with good contrast, and it delivers amazing image quality. I believe you would not regret buying it, realizing that a significant price difference between it and the 24-70 f2.8 does not necessarily translate into higher quality.

Does the IS motor shut off when it's set to the "off" position, or can you still hear it working?
Asked by: Geoff
Technically, the on/off switch for IS should do just that. However I think I understand your question in that one can still hear the whir-like sound of a motor when the switch is in the off position. I have not found any references to the design of the system, so I can only venture a theory that Canon chose to leave the motor on at all times when power is available to the lens (everything switches off if the camera goes into sleep mode or is switched off). Two reasons may justify this: to avoid wear and tear or to reduce surge power consumption spinning up the motor too frequently. I routinely get 300 pictures with this and other RF IS lenses with IS on, using the RP camera body, so it seems that power drain of IS is not a major issue.
