Standard wide-angle to short-telephoto zoom lens is designed for use with full-frame Canon RF-mount mirrorless cameras.
Impressively bright f/2 maximum aperture maintains consistent illumination throughout the zoom range and suits working in low-light conditions as well as affords increased control over depth of field for working with selective focus techniques.
Ultra-Low Dispersion (UD) elements are featured in the optical design, and help to suppress color fringing and chromatic aberrations in order to achieve greater clarity and color accuracy throughout the zoom range.
A ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM), along with an internal focusing design, optimized focusing algorithms, and a high-speed CPU, is employed to deliver fast, precise, and quiet autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override.
Configurable Control Ring can be used to adjust a variety of exposure settings, including aperture, ISO, and exposure compensation.
As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens has a weather-resistant design that protects against dust and moisture to enable its use in inclement conditions.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality.

Canon RF 28-70mm f/2L USM Reviews

The Barrel

I have been shooting with the RF28-70 F2.0 for little over a year. Bottom line have not taken it off the camera. It is big and impressive. if you want a lens that is going to get the job done for most jobs especially weddings this lens will do it. Make sure to but a 5 to 10lb dumbbell, before it arrives. You will need to workout a little so the weight will not make sour. However, once you get use to it you will not need much else. It shoots fast like a prime and it stops down to 2.0. The cost is high, but the quality is high. The Bokeh is outstanding especially at F2.0. If I had to take just one lens it would the RF28-70mm F2.0 The Barrel

When this lens was first released l was a little hesitant to purchase it because it didn't have image stabilization but after three months of pairing it with my R5's IBIS, the combination is fantastic! Sharpness, bokeh, contrast, color and pride of ownership are all top notch. I use the use it for stills and video. The results are beautiful. You won't regret the purchase!

Finally was able to obtain a copy of the Canon 28-70 2.0L sum lens, and it was definitely worth the wait. Sure it big and heavy and expensive, but it does produce some of the sharpest photos I have ever taken. I use to think the 300mm 2.8 IS lens was the sharpest lens from Canon, but now that honor is passed to the 28-70 2.0. The lens balances very well on the R3 and I look forward to the upcoming fall colors to see how this combination handles everything.

An uncompromising lens for those who need it!

I'm usually a prime lens guy for anything under 100mm and prioritize image quality over convenience. That was always a tough compromise when shooting events, particularly concerts and red carpet events, likely weddings too which I don't shoot. With this lens I get prime lens quality images in a fast f/2 convenient zoom. For concerts and red carpets my life has been completely changed. It is a relatively heavy lens, about the same as a top L series EF 70-200mm, but it's shorter & wider, with the weight balanced toward the camera mount, which makes for a great balanced feel. Much easier to handle than the longer front heavy lenses of similar weight. So, no, it's not light, but it's not at all a ridiculous weight like many reviewers like to imply. Just remember it will literally take up more room in your bag. However it also eliminates the need to bring along several lenses I used to have on me at all times. The image quality is literally better at f/2.0 than any other mid-range zoom I've used, even the RF 24-70mm f/2.8 at a whole stop slower. If you're one of the few who need a lens like this, you likely already know it. Just do it! Worth every penny for a demanding professional or a passionate hobbyist with the cash to have fun with this amazing lens.

This lens is sharp and when paired with and IBIS body gets 8 stops of IS. Used it last weekend for a family get together with amazing results. Not missing my EF 24-70 f/2.8 at all.

Very sharp!

how bad is the focus breathing?
Asked by: patrick
Focus breathing on this drives me nuts, it isn't bad, but it isn't minimal as other have said, granted, the worst part is jumping in that close range (1' to 4'). So if you are using this for vlogging, and move around, it is bad. But using it at my kids concert this week, it doesn't do bad at the longer focus distances, even though that was still more than a 20' focus change on the stage, at 30' away.
