Fantastic filter, finicky setting wheel

The construction and quality of this adapter/filter are fantastic, and the built-in ND variability that works with ALL of my EF lenses is a huge time-and-money saver. My one and only complaint is that the dial to adjust the level of darkening takes a very light touch, and is easy to adjust accidentally given its convenient placement. I constantly find myself having to re-adjust it, or just open it back up when I didn't intend to use it in the first place. Having a light 'lock' point at Min and Max would be extremely helpful, or just add a bit more resistance to the dial would do the trick.
Excellent functionality, could be better.

Love having this, but more resistance on the dial itself would go along way. Its easy to bump, and (as expected) doesn't display intensity markers (2-stop,4-stop,6,stop,ect).
The fact that it exists though is a game changer. I use it with my r5c and I'm totally fine working my EF lenses for a few more years.
The BEST solution

This is clear the BEST solution for your Canon R5 and Canon R6.
I use in both cameras and i have 3 of them.
The ND is great, dont change nothing related to the quality of the image and give you the posibility to low the velocity... more when you work in the beach at 12 pm... AMAZING!
I recommend to purchase also the Clear Drop-In.
Works great for video on my Komodo

This RF to EF adaptor with VND filter came prepackaged with the Komodo, along with another adaptor without filters in a nice small case. So much of the criticism I have read here does not apply to Komodo users.
It is indeed very convenient to have this on my Komodo for video work. I have not noticed any image degradation or color tinges. Having said that, I only shoot RAW and do color grading anyways. Have not tried it with still photography.
NOT A SMART OPTION

There are some 90 EF-* Canon lenses accepting Polarizer, UV and ND filters screwed on their threading fronts. Really very rare options apply such as fish-eyes and very long teles, the whities.
Therefore, unless you are the owner of those exceptions why to spend $300+ dollars to adapt your EF* lens to the RF mount with drop-in filters at the back when you can yield the same result by just buying a set of screweing on NDs or variable ND filters instead?
And more: even when used to adapt those exceptions, this adapter brings in a faulty engineering project that causes unavoidable clumsy, burdensome handling in real life use: when not needed, the ND filter must be removed from the adapter, leaving a wide open window for optical obnoxions such as optical aberration, interference fringe, diffraction, Tyndall effect, light flares, color drifts and other quirks, Moreover and even worse, an inviting tunnel to attract dust and create an ideal atmospheric condition to trigger related phenomena to impair the full performance of the camera sensor such as adsorption (adsorption is the adhesion of atoms, ions or molecules from a gas, liquid or dissolved solid to a surface).
To avoid all this nuissance the buyer of this adapter MUST buy an additional filter, the clear one, to replace the ND vacant slot, so to
remedy Canon's engineering lack of inventivity.
And that will cost you another 130 bucks, my dear sitting duck.
It's just like taking a 1/2 inch fur coat to an an Artic environment when all you needed to not perish was a 3/4 inch one.
In this regard, to avoid such nonsense, it would be a simple matter of creating a variable ND filter starting at 0.0 grading instead of 1.5.
, no? No need to replace it by a clear graded filter.
As simple and 130 bucks cheaper as that.
The adpter is fine... the filters are mediocre and loose

I gave up on this thing. The adapter part is flawless... HOWEVER the filter inside was pretty mediocre and shifts color blue hard on max... and since there is no hard stop on the that its hard to get to the correct max spot where the shift isnt messing up your footage- for photo the color correction here does effect your overall image different but still its not desirable. ALSO I am not thrilled I had to spend over 80 dollars on a glass fliter so I can use this with any polarizing or nd effect....---Third party filters will fix allot of gripes here but few are on the market yet.
Works, but it is flimsy.

This mount does what it claims, however it is very cheap flimsys. There is huge color shifting at the darkest end of the ND, so it is not possible to go to the darkest end of it which is fine. The mount has some wiggle in it while lenses are attached too which is not ideal. This mount will suffice while I wait for something more solid to come out for my Red V-Raptor

To get service on this product, if you can at all, the website directs you to an email address that isn't monitored. When you call in and the answering service asks for the product name and number, it won't recognize it. This is a very important component in my setup, and if I can't get it fixed, I may as well get a different camera and mount adapter.
