I bought drop-in CPL and VND filters from Breakthrough Filters and needed this adapter because the Breakthrough adapter isn't shipping yet. Works great!

The fact of having a CPL for all your lenses is great, but the position of the rotating wheel is a little weird, specially if you're using a telephoto (70-200 or 100-400 or so)

Simple and Functional

I was a little curious as to how much I would like this adapter, using the standard L-series lenses on my new R5 C, but so far it is really a welcome addition to the kit. I have despised using Metabones adapters over the years, so that's where my apprehension came from. I'm not sure how well it works with Sigma, Rokinon, or other third-party manufacturers, but it is great with the Canon lenses. You really don't even know it is there. And, the circular polarizer works quite well, with the adjustment wheel easy to access, smooth to the touch. A welcome addition to the kit.

Canon EF-R mount ad CP filter

I purchased this EOS EF-R adapter with the Drop-In CP filter primarily for use on my EOS R5 with my new IRIX 11mm f4 lens attached (since it has no front filter capability). However, even though I also have a Canon EOS EF-R mount adapter with control ring for my existing EF mount lenses, I like this super easy to use rear Drop-In CP filter design for all of my lenses, and not need to use my old front filter mount magnetic CP filters. The small rotation wheel with this adapter is super easy to use, much easier than a CP filter on the front of the lens. I also like that I can use my lenses with this CP filter still have my lens hoods attached. It's a bit expensive, but well worth it for me. Highly recommended.

Overpriced but very useful

While this adapter is surprisingly expensive, the ability to use this filter with any EF lens and rotate the filter without reaching around to the front of the lens is nice.

huge expense for avg tool

WAYYYYY too expensive. Not weather sealed. For R5 users, keep this in mind when shooting outdoors in wet weather. Your camera may be weather sealed, but this adapter negates that! Additional CLEAR drop-in filter REQUIRED in order to use without the PL filter. That's another $130! As for functionality, it works great. Communication between EF lens and camera is good. PL filter leaves a strange gradient at certain angles (?). Can't explain that. 3 stars because I wonder if 3rd party adapters WITH drop-in filters work just as good for about 1/3 or 1/4 of the cost??? I use this for business most of the time, so I want use native gear as much as I can afford. Canon's RF system is putting a dent in my wallet. To the point where I may not be able to afford native Canon gear anymore. May need to switch to 3rd party lens when they become available. For now, this adapter will save me money by using my EF glass.

Is mine defective?

I learned photography on film so I was super excited to get an internal circular polarizer for digital! Maybe my memory is foggy but I don't remember these filters only covering half the image. At 100% effect, the effect only affects about half of the image. I'm trying to get rid of reflections in windows from between 30 and 40 degrees angle and while it does work to eliminate them, it only does it to half of the shot. Changing angles doesn't help. I even broke out my front loading CLP and it doesn't do this either. This was really expensive compared to that $12 filter and it seems to be defective.

The Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R with Circular Polarizer Filter is designed for Canon RF cameras with a full-frame (36x24mm) sensor. The sensor of the Red V-Raptor is 40.96x21mm, so it may not fully cover the sensor when shooting 8K.

The directions for the adapter say it has to be removed from the camera before I can change lenses. Why? It seems that it would be easier to leave the adapter on the camera and just change the lens attached to the adapter.

Description says "water-resistant". How water-resistant is the dial that you turn to rotate the circular polarizer? Usable in rain?
Asked by: Magneto
Why in the heck would you think this would be good in the rain? There's not a possibility I would ever put this holder on in the rain. Yes it's good for misty conditions but not like prime lenses. I would not recommend using in rain or high moisture conditions.
