Designed for use with the Canon Drop-In Filter Mount Adapter EF-EOS R, this Drop-In Variable Neutral Density Filter A is an intuitive and sleek means for using a variable neutral density filter in conjunction with an adapted lens, especially those lenses lacking traditional filter threads. This variable ND filter is permanently installed within a drop-in holder and has an integrated wheel for adjusting the rotation position to alter the ND effect.
The variable ND filter has an ND3-ND500 range, offering 1.5 to 9 stops of adjustment, and creates a darkening of the entire image for photographing with a wider aperture or slower shutter speed than normally required. The degree of density is easily controlled by rotating the filter, helping you to predetermine the additional exposure length required. By increasing your aperture or slowing your exposure time, you are able to control depth of field and convey movement more easily.
- Variable ND3-ND500 Filter
- Reduce Exposure by 1.5 to 9 Stops

Canon 3446C001 Reviews
It's terrible, but it's better than nothing.
Great that this exists. However, there's no friction on the wheel. Meaning if you don't tape it in place it will move on you. And even taping it in place is quite a challenge because it'll slip as you're taping it. This could be an excellent tool unfortunately it wasn't thought through. At full strength it does have optic issues, but that's true of many V ND filters. That doesn't bug me too much. Looking forward to upgrading to a 3rd party filter, the idea of this is excellent but the execution makes it ruin more shots than it makes.
Pricey but a nice accessory addition
Im not sure that I would use it at a full 9stops as it seems like that image would require a lot more processing and color correction in post but so far I am happy with the results it gives me when I need to use it and happy to have it in my kit. Possibly a filter kit including all the filters availavble to that adapter for purhcase would be more convenient and cheaper?
It seriously needs a better case
For such an expensive filter, it needs a better case. It comes with a petri-dish kind of screw case that has pads that fall out. It's totally unsuitable for using outside of a studio. I ended up buying a custom made case on Etsy instead which is awesome. Also, the adjustment wheel is so loose and needs some dampening to keep it from moving so easily.
Expensive but convenient!
I love being able to not bring screw on ND filters with my canon eos r. I can go around shooting pics of my kids outside playing and switch to video mode, dial in the ND and boom. I wish Blackmagic would do a pocket cinema camera with the RF mount.
You dont need to buy two parts!
This is for a replacement drop in filter only. The adaptor comes with the filter! https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1433719-REG/canon_mount_adapter_ef_rf_with.html
Why so expensive?
It is criminal that Canon charges the same price for the drop in filter as they do for the actual adapter that includes the same drop in filter. If you want to take full advantage of the RF system using legacy EF glass, you would need to basically purchase both adapters.
Practico
Buen accesorio y muy practico, evita tener que comprar filtros a cada lente
Does the job perfectly
Does exactly what it is to do. Agree with other case could be a little more user friendly
