Will it work with a Canon M50 and Canon 470EX AI speedlite?
Asked by: ankit
The 470 AI does not have a receiver built in. You would need both a transmitter and receiver like this kit https://bhpho.to/2Zsmexp.

A known defect of the original version was battery rapid drain even when switched off. Has that issue been fixed in this newer release? I'll upgrade if I can quit removing the batteries every day.
Asked by: David
This unit was released to provide compatibility with newer Canon DSLR and mirrorless cameras. We have not heard of a battery issue with this model.

Can you turn off the AF focus assist beam or does it always go on in low light conditions?
Asked by: Scott
The AF assist beam can be turned on/off in the transmitter settings. The flash AF assist beam can also be turned on/off in the YN600EX-RT II flash settings. On my G15, neither AF assist beam does anything regardless of the settings. I don't know how bright these would be since they are behind a dark red lens. The G15's AF assist beam works and is very bright white. Turning the G15's AF assist beam on/off has no effect on the transmitter or flash AF assist beams. Overall, the transmitter/flash work very well on the G15, but it's always a roll of the dice with 3rd party units. It may behave differently on other Canon cameras. Interestingly, this transmitter/flash combo works great on my Nikon D850 in manual mode even though the hot shoes are very different. No adapters required, just pop the transmitter on and shoot.
