This dock contains two bi-directional 40 Gb/s Thunderbolt 3 ports, each of which utilizes the reversible USB Type-C connector and also supports 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 and dual-bandwidth DisplayPort 1.2, allowing you to connect up to two 4K/60 Hz displays simultaneously, or one 5K Thunderbolt 3 display. In addition to its Thunderbolt 3 ports, this dock also has one 10 Gb/s USB 3.1 Type-C port, which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 2, as well as one 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 Type-C port, which is also known as USB 3.1 Gen 1. To maintain compatibility with legacy devices, this dock also has five 5 Gb/s USB 3.0 Type-A ports. The DisplayPort allows for a 4K or 5K monitor to be connected, while the 3.5mm audio ports allow external speakers, mics, and other audio equipment to be connected. Pro-grade digital audio output for a lossless signal transfer is accomplished using the S/PDIF output, network connectivity is achieved using the Gigabit Ethernet port, and the integrated SDXC UHS-II card reader lets you download photos and videos from your digital camera or other device. Additionally, a power cable and a 2.3' Thunderbolt 3 cable are included.

Decent but flaky

I've had this for about 2 years now - it's connected to my MacBook Pro 13 M1 and a 22 LG monitor, primarily. I have about 5 external hard drives and that seriously overwhelms this - it's slow and inconsistent - drops the hard drives occasionally for no reason. Once you figure out the quirks, it's functional, but by no means a solid product. I may replace it in a couple years... but with something different.

Worked fine for two months, and then stopped working completely. Checked output power from the power supply, 20v DC as expected. Will not turn on. Only had one Thunderbolt cable, one audio cable, one KVM cable and one monitor connected to it. I expect a $300 product to last more than two months. Avoid at all costs.

I bought this for my HP 15.6 ZBook Studio G8 Mobile Workstation. The laptop has only one USB type A, which I use for a wireless mouse and keyboard. The other I/O ports are two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 4. So far, the CalDigit TS3 has worked reliably for me. The user might have to open their computer settings for audio, however, if the sound isn't coming over desired speakers. The Settings will list a selection of audio devices. In summary, I'm very happy with my CalDigit TS3 Plus dock, and I recommend it to other computer users who need more I/O selections.

Not being familiar with CalDigit, I didn't know what to expect. Also, I thought it was a bit pricey, but had tried other units and had problems. Well, I was pleasantly surprised. Works like a champ, with no connection problems are dropouts. Extremely versatile as well, with all the ports I needed, and then some. Well worth the price.

We've been using these docks for several years for our Macs and they are great. Our department users all have laptops and they are the ideal, convenient solution for docking. They're powerful enough to charge a 16 M1 Max MacBook Pro, run dual monitors (with the right cables) and with a small SSD plugged into the back, provide a decentralized time-machine backup solution.

Takes 2 to make 1 work and support is HORRIBLE

The technical support is NON-EXISTENT, if yours breaks like mine did you should just buy another mfg's product because they don't answer the phone and it takes a week to get a response from support and a month to get a replacement if you can get someone at CalDigit.

Device stopped working after only 2 months. For a $300 product I certainly expect more. Some issues with it working with a KVM switch but otherwise seemed to work ok until it didn't. Checked power at the supply, the expected 20v DC was there but system will not turn on. Avoid at all costs.

Anything that's rated "Thunderbolt 3" will meet certain minimum Thunderbolt 3 standards. Worth keeping this in mind: "Are all Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) cables created equal? No, in fact, there are two types of Thunderbolt 3 (USB-C) cables, passive and active. Passive cables cost less and can reach up to 40 Gb/s data transfer if the length is 0.5m or less and 20 Gb/s if over 0.5m.
