Fast and Portable Wide-Angle

G Master Optical Performance
  • As part of Sony's esteemed G Master series, this lens is designed to achieve notably high resolution and sharpness through the correction of a wide variety of spherical and chromatic aberrations.
  • Notably fast f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in difficult lighting conditions and also affords increased control over depth of field.
  • Rounded 11-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing bokeh quality when employing selective focus techniques.
  • Two XA elements are incorporated into the optical design, which features superior surface precision for effective control over astigmatism, field curvature, coma, and other spherical aberrations.
  • Three extra-low dispersion elements are featured in the lens design and help to reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved clarity and color neutrality.
  • Nano AR Coating has been applied to reduce surface reflections, flare, and ghosting for increased contrast in strong lighting conditions.
Responsive AF and Intuitive Handling
  • Direct Drive Super Sonic wave Motor AF system and internal focus mechanism provides quick, quiet, and precise autofocus performance and also contributes to more natural, intuitive manual focus control.
  • A focus hold button is present on the lens barrel for intuitive tactile control and rapid access to select settings.
  • Physical aperture ring can be de-clicked for smooth, silent aperture switching to benefit video applications.
  • Dust- and moisture-sealed design better permits working in inclement conditions and rubberized control rings benefit handling in colder temperatures.
  • Fluorine-coated front element resists dust, moisture, and fingerprints and is easy to clean.

Sony FE 24mm f/1.4 GM Reviews

sharp lens, nice size

I've used this for landscapes and architecture/general purpose. I wanted a prime lens that I could carry without having a ton of weight, and the quality on this seemed a lot higher than the pancake lenses. I wish Sony would make more prime lenses around this size rather than the big heavy ones.

Wonderful lens for landscape astrophotography, even wide open. Very little coma wide open compared to other 24/1.4 lens.

This is the best ultra-wide angle I have ever owned and used, period. Better than my old Leica 21mm. It is razor sharp, with beautiful color rendition. It is not tiny or lightweight, but that doesn't concern me. It performs brilliantly. It is becoming my standard lens for street photography. Using a full-frame 24MP camera, this lens is so sharp that I have more latititude to crop my images and not lose image quality.

24mm of pure fast lowlight joy

I have had this lens for over three years. This was my first GM lens from Sony and because of how amazing this lens is, I can't stop buying other GM lenses lol Three years later, I still use this lens all the time. I had the 55mm Zeiss before this and once I got this GM, I stopped using the Zeiss. 24mm is a very nice clean frame. Wide enough but also still kind of close. A nice middle ground. The lowlight and f/1.4 are phenomenal. The auto focus is very fast, despite being three years old. The Sony FX6 and Sony A7 IV both have focus breathing control now, so any previous concerns for this lens focus breathing is now zero. I love having the ability to adjust my aperture on the fly, such a flexible function. This was the lens that made me fall in love with GMaster lenses by Sony. If you can afford this lens, absolutely buy it. To this day, it is my favorite lens of all time.

I love this focal length with my A7Siii on the RS2. Sharp, great contrast, and great autofocus. Really happy with this one.

Stunning Images from this lens

The rendering and the sharpness right out to the corners are simply fantastic. The images look like they are from a medium format camera on my A7rIII! My copy has significant noise from the Aperture blades stopping down, and some quick research online says that I am not alone, but I can only hear it when I am focusing on AF-S in a very quiet room.

Love it!

The lense is a bit more expensive than what I would have like, but the pictures speak for themselves. Can only recommend.

This lens would work very well for shooting landscapes, but whether it is wide enough depends on the Sony E mount camera you're using and how much of the frame you would like to capture.
