If your battery is running low, or you need to connect to a wired audio source, you can convert the ATH-M50xBT into a pair of wired headphones with the included 3.9' cable. This 3.5mm TRRS cable includes an in-line mic and controls so you won't lose the ability to manage your audio or conduct hands-free calls.

The built-in LiPo batteries have enough capacity to power the ATH-M50xBT headphones for up to 40 hours of continuous playback. When you finally do need to recharge, just use the included 1' micro-USB charging cable.
Onboard Mic and Controls
A built-in microphone and button controls are built into the left earcup to allow for easy handling of calls, music playback, and volume adjustment. Also on the left earcup, the integrated touch panel activates the speech recognition feature for easy access to Siri for iOS devices or Google Assistant for Android devices.
45mm Drivers
The ATH-M50x features proprietary 45mm large-aperture dynamic drivers with rare earth (neodymium) magnets and CCAW (copper-clad aluminum wire) voice coils for high-quality sound reproduction.
Tuned for Clarity and Deep, Accurate Bass
The drivers and headphone design work together to provide a sonic signature tuned flat for exceptional clarity throughout an extended frequency range along with deep, accurate bass character. With a frequency response of 15 Hz to 28 kHz, the ATH-M50xBT can reproduce a full spectrum of tones.
Over-Ear, Sound-Isolating Design
The ATH-M50xBT utilizes a circumaural design that contours around the ears for excellent sound isolation in loud environments. This over-ear, closed-back style is optimal for reducing bleed and separating you from outside sounds.
90° Swiveling Earcups and Foldable Design
Equipped with 90° swiveling earcups, the ATH-M50xBT ensures a great fit and allows effortless one-ear monitoring, a welcome benefit for DJs and singers. Audio-Technica Consumer ATH-M50xBT Reviews

A slightly better consumer headphone

Good sound and build quality on these headphones, but it does sit a little hot on the ears after a while. I wouldn't say that the frequency response neutrality and detail is up to the standards of proper audiophile gear (open-back electrostatics, planar magnetics, etc.), but then again neither is the price. The impedance on these headphones are a little bit on the high side to be driven to its full potential by embedded sound chips on most consumer computing devices, so I end up jacking up the volume a lot higher than for most consumer-grade stuff.

Horrible audio for phone calls

The mic built into the headset delivers truly horrible audio quality to the person you're talking with on a phone call. Fortunately for me, I bought the headset for listening to music, not for phone calls. There's apparently also a mic on the physical cable, but I haven't tried that. I ordered this model for Bluetooth, so haven't tested its optional physical cable.

Just as good as the wired ones

I have had a pair of wired MX50s for years and have always really enjoyed the sound quality relative to the cost. I use these at work and as studio monitors for singing practice and to watch movies/games with on my PS4... versatile little cans eh? The battery life is great, I charge them 1-3 times a week and they have yet to gripe about low batteries.

A fun, well-made pairs of cans!

These headphones have everything you could ask for if you just want a great-sounding, quality pairs of listening cups. The sound-isolation isn't perfect but it's very good considering how loud it can get. The build quality is very good, definitely above-average. The headphones look good and aren't as huge as some other headphones of this type can get. The headphones definitely offer enough adjust-ability to accommodate heads of all sizes and the quality, matte-surfaces are pretty fingerprint-resistant, which is a nice bonus. It has a vast-soundscape due to the emphasis on deep, punchy-bass and clear treble. It definitely seems to glide through the mids and lets the highs and lows dominate but I definitely enjoy the sound. Some bluetooth-functionality is a plus too but it's not a huge priority for me so it was just an added-bonus.

Fantastic quality and comfortable!

They sound just as good as the regular corded version but the bass is a little bit stronger. Otherwise the same high mid boost. Batteries last for a very long time. Bluetooth connects quickly and clean every time. Everyone I’ve been on a phone call with says they can hear me very clearly too.

Great if mostly used wired

I mostly use these wired, and they're great for that. Wireless works well as long as you don't need to switch between devices. If you do, the re-pairing process is annoying and slow. The newer model should take care of that, I guess. I still love the ability to use them both with and without wires though, more headphones should let you do that.

If the product does not work or other malfunctions occur, refer to “Charging the battery” (p.6) and connect the USB charging cable. Make sure the cable is carrying power.Disconnecting and then reconnecting the USB charging cable will reset the product and should resolve any problem you are experiencing. If the problem persists, please contact your local Audio-Technica dealer.Resetting does not change any of your settings (pairing information, volume setting, etc.).

What are the technical drawbacks of this headphone compared to the version without bluetooth, considering that this one is described as consumer and the other is for critical DJ and studio job?
Asked by: Carlos Henrique
Bluetooth is inherently flawed. It works well much of the time, but is less than perfect often. I've had issues with various Bluetooth headphones on my head, and phones in my pocket. I still use it sometimes. It's just not perfect. A wired, or cabled connection is far more reliable.

is there a longer cable you can purchase for the ATH-M50xBT or can you get and extender?
Asked by: Garrett
Not all extension cables are the same. Pay attention to the plug that plugs into the head phone jack, it doesn’t allow all standard tips to fit all the way in. The jack on the head phone requires a turned down shaft to allow the plug to fit all the way in.
