An especially sleek portrait-length prime, the 56mm f/1.4 DC DN is part of Sigma's Contemporary series of lenses, and is designed for use with APS-C-format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras. The lens is characterized by its bright f/1.4 maximum aperture, which suits working in difficult lighting conditions and also offers improved control over depth of field for isolating subjects and working with selective focus techniques. The optical design utilizes two aspherical elements and one SLD element, which help to reduce both spherical and chromatic aberrations for greater sharpness and clarity. A super multilayer coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting in order to achieve more contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions. Complementing the optics is a stepping AF motor, which suits both photo and video applications due to its quick, precise, and near-silent performance.

Sigma 56mm f/1.4 DC DN Contemporary Reviews
I Like this Lens !
I am using this lens on a Sony FX30 as well as my older Sony Fs7, and just finished a micro-budget feature, where it came in handy again and again. The famous Sony autofocus works on this lens just as a native Sony glass would. Of course a 50mm 1.4 lens is a must for interviews with APS cameras, but it also adds a lovely look to a lot of different frames. The few extra mms in this 56mm lens feels very welcome. It is small and light, with a solid construction feeling. It would have been nice if all the front threads were the same on the famous Sigma Trio, but I have adapter rings on all my lenses that mate with my Tilta matte box so they are quickly interchangeable. All in all, very happy.
This Lens Is PERFECT!
This was the last of the Sigma EF-M Mount lenses I purchased during the Sigma discounts in November. In my uses of this lens, it's incredible with color and for macro, the bokeh in close ups. So impressed by it - it's the best of all my lenses when it comes to that. I'd rather use my 16 mm and 30 mm Sigma lenses for video and more distant photos. But when I want something up closer - nothing in my camera bag beats the 56 mm! Can't go wrong with it!
Great prime lens for M50
Nice clear images with sharp focus and geed bokeh.
Amazing lens!
No complaints at all! Love this lens for portrait pictures. Beautiful bokeh!
Sigma 56mm Sony E
This is an awesome lens that works very well with the Sony E mount, because this is an APS-C lens, their is a bit of a crop factor but this lens takes beautiful pictures. I am very satisfied with the overall quality of the lens as well as the speed with which it was shipped and delivered
Perfection!
This is a perfect portrait lens for my Canon M50 Mark ii. Very light, intuitive, sharp, and versatile. The design is excellent. Great boke. My Canon expert friend admitted that it was a much better deal than the Canon equivalent lens - less expensive and lighter with a comparable quality. I am really enjoying it.
Very sharp
Very sharp when used with the xt5. Focuses great
No Regrets
Bought this as my first lens and it's perfect for all my portrait needs. Ill be adding to my collection with the Sigma 30mm next. Can't wait to fall in love with that one as well.
