Complementing the optics is an Intelligent OS system, which minimizes the appearance of camera shake for sharper results when shooting handheld. A Hyper Sonic Motor is also used to provide quick and quiet autofocus performance along with full-time manual focus override. One Special Low Dispersion (SLD) element and nine F Low Dispersion (FLD) elements are featured in the optical design and help to reduce color fringing and chromatic aberrations for improved clarity and color accuracy, as well as spherical aberrations for reduced distortion and improved sharpness throughout the zoom range.
A Super Multi-Layer Coating has been applied to lens elements in order to minimize lens flare and ghosting and contribute to producing contrast-rich and color-neutral imagery, even in backlit conditions.

Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 DG OS HSM Sports Reviews

Super Lens

I have really been enjoying this lens. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the weight. But, that hasn't really been a problem for me shooting all day with it hand held. It is pretty fast and I have had no problem with the auto focus. Picture quality is great with this lens. For the price it is a no brainer if you're looking for a f2.8 70-200mm.

Great lens, very happy!

I purchased this lens about a year ago, very happy with it. Extremely clear, even with the 2x attached. Dove photo was taken using the 2x extender, Nikon D850. This is a heavy lens but a lot of good glass. My only issue is the tripod mount which cannot be removed, but it easily swivels. Impressive lens overall.

Great lens.

Lives up to my expectations and beyond. Yes, it is heavy and bulky... but then so am I...

Great Lens, Great Value

I purchased this lens from B&H primarily for portraits and events. I paired it with a Nikon D850 and took some sunrise photos at the beach as it's first outing. It focuses very quickly, was sharp edge to edge and had beautiful color. It's manual focus ring and zoom ring are smooth but it took a bit to get used to their position which are reversed from most of my lenses. The lens is a little heavier than the native Nikon but it has a rugged, high quality appearance and feel. I am very impressed with both the quality of the lens and the images it produces. I also have the Sigma 14-24 f2.8 art and the Sigma 24-70 f2.8 art lenses which I love and highly recommend, which is why I purchased this lens. I'm looking forward to using this lens for weddings and family portraits. A word about B&H; I purchase all my photography equipment here and have found their service to be outstanding. They have a great website with more product information than the manufacturer in many cases. They ship quickly and my purchase arrives securely packaged.

Used on my D850. Color and sharpness far exceed any other lens I have used. It is a bit Heavy, but the construction is solid and it has lots of glass.

Riddled with problems

I bought this lens to be my primary lens as a dog and horse portrait photographer. It sounded like it was going to be similarly sharp and fast as the Nikon 70-200mm f2.8 but for $1000 less. When I first got the lens I loved it. But after a few weeks of use, I noticed during a photoshoot that I was missing focus on the eye on the majority of my shots. I went home and calibrated the lens. I had to adjust it by -17 points which is getting close to the maximum adjustments you can make in camera. This made it so the central focus point was accurate. A few weeks after that, the lens stopped focusing at all while photographing my dog. There was a very concerning plunk noise inside the lens and it began to focus again. Since then, it will work accurately 90% of the time but on nearly every outing there will be at least one moment where the lens will quit trying to focus until I switch AF off and back on or adjust the zoom ring in and out. Today, I noticed that while my calibration made the central focus point accurate, when I set my focus point to either the furthest left or right option, the images are massively back-focused. If I turn off my calibration, the central focus point is soft but the peripheral points are accurate. SO frustrated and the lens will need to be serviced if not replaced. So far Sigma's customer service has been very difficult to work with. Beyond disappointed. If you have the money, spring for the native lens for your body.

Tack Sharp

I use this on a Nikon Z6ii with FTZ Adapter. This lens is tack sharp, didn't have to use a dock. It's well made, came with a well padded case, lens hood locks on properly. Only CON is it's a heavy beast around 4#.

One of the best investments you're going to make if you work on photography in a professional way. Spectacular lens with special quality completely open. The only negative thing about it is its weight. But on all the other rubles an impressive lens.
