Designed for Windows Mixed Reality, the Samsung HMD Odyssey+ Windows Mixed Reality Headset provides an immersive virtual reality experience.

The Odyssey+ improves on its predecessor with Samsung's Anti-Screen Door Effect technology. The Screen Door Effect (SDE) is a widely known issue for VR headsets, but Samsung solves it by applying a grid that diffuses light coming from each pixel and replicating the picture to areas around the pixel. This makes the spaces between pixels less visible. This provides a perceived 1233 ppi, which is doubled that of its predecessor's 616 ppi.

There are also built-in headphones that were tuned by AKG and provide 360° spatial audio. The rich, dynamic surround sound delivers audio naturally. There is also a built-in microphone array for when you want to chat with friends and teammates as well as take full advantage of Cortana, the digital assistant for Windows.

The Odyssey+ has dual 3.5" AMOLED displays, each with a 1440 x 1600 resolution, for a total of 2880 x 1600. It has a field of view of 110°. Its built-in Y-cable has USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A and HDMI 2.0 connectors that you use to connect to your computer. Two controllers are included with the Odyssey+ headset—you will need to use Bluetooth to connect them. Please note that the Windows Fall Creators Update is required.

Samsung Anti-Screen Door Effect Technology

With Samsung's anti-SDE (Screen Door Effect) technology, the Odyssey+ effectively delivers over twice the pixel count of the display resolution. The anti-SDE technology diffuses light coming out of the pixels and replicates the picture to areas around the pixels. This makes the space between the pixels less visible and allows for a clear, immersive VR experience.

AKG 360° Spatial Sound

Thanks to the built-in AKG-tuned headphones, you'll experience rich and dynamic 360° surround sound. The built-in microphone array lets you chat with teammates or control your computer with Cortana, the digital Windows assistant.

Wider Nose Guard and Eye Box

The Odyssey+ features a wider nose guard at 1.5" and a wider eye box at 5.7" for a more comfortable fit. It also features premium cooling fabric to reduce overheating and fogging up of the lenses.

Ready. Set. Play.

Your Odyssey+ can be set up in minutes. Just plug in the USB 3.1 Gen 1 and HDMI 2.0 connectors and launch the Mixed Reality Portal app in Windows.

What rechargeable batteries work (or work best) ...

What rechargeable batteries work (or work best) with the controllers?
Asked by: Sang
Just wanted to clarify Jessica's message about taking 4 x AA batteries. Each controller uses 2 x AA meaning you need a total of 4 x AA batteries and not a total of 8 x AA batteries as there are only 2 controllers. I would suggest you get a good NiMH with a high mAh capacity. The controllers assist with your tracking so its important to use batteries with good voltages. Standard batteries will operate new at 1.65v each until drained. Rechargeables will operate closer to 1.2v so consider getting li-ion AA rechargeable batteries that operate closer to 1.70v. Don't forget to double this as each controller uses 2 batteries.

How long ist the cable on this? Could it theoretically be extended?
Asked by: Zeirus
The cable is about 3 metres longs (10 feet). I would recommend you get an HDMI (1.4 minimum 2.0 is best) extension and USB cable extension (USB 3.0). The device uses the USB port to power on and to perform any firmware updates, so don't forget to unplug your extensions when updating to avoid possible errors.
