The Cokin P Series Green 0.8 Filter is designed for use with a Cokin P Series Filter Holder. It can be used to increase image contrast between green-colored subjects versus red-colored subjects when photographing using a film camera system with black-and-white film installed. Additionally, various hues among green-colored subjects can be effectively separated into black-and-white tones.
When using this filter, wavelengths of visible light that are apparent as red and violet colors to the human eye are suppressed, while visible light associated with green, yellow, orange and blue colors are able to more easily pass though the Cokin P Series Green 0.8 Filter and into the lens it is mounted in front of. When photographing with this filter along with black-and-white film, red and violet-colored subjects within a scene are reproduced in dark shades of grey than if a filter was not used. Simultaneously, green, yellow, orange, and blue subjects are rendered in lighter shades of grey.
When applied to black-and-white photography, shades from green within foliage can be discerned, skies become lighted while clouds are made less distinguishable, and the appearance of freckles or any skin pigmentation is intensified.
This filter has a 0.8 density and reduces light from entering a lens by 2.6 stops. It is made of durable, optical resin (CR39) and measures 1.6mm thick.
