A specialized lens for creative effects, the Sony E-mount 8mm f/3.5 AS MC Fisheye CS II DH from Samyang offers an impressive 180° angle of view to produce exaggerated, distorted perspectives. The optical design incorporates one hybrid aspherical element, which helps to limit spherical aberrations in order to produce greater sharpness, clarity, and even illumination. A Multi-Coating has also been applied to suppress flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color accuracy when working in strong lighting conditions. Additionally, a removable petal-shaped lens hood is included, too, for further flare reduction and protection to the front element.

More DetailsSamyang 8mm f/3.5 Fisheye Overview
This 8mm fisheye lens is designed for APS-C-format Sony E-mount mirrorless cameras, where it provides a 12mm equivalent focal length. With the lens hood removed, this lens can also be used on full-frame cameras, but will produce a circular image with noticeable vignetting.
Extremely broad 180° angle of view produces an exaggerated perspective and creative distortion.
One hybrid aspherical element is utilized to reduce spherical aberrations, control distortion, and maintain consistent illumination and sharpness from edge to edge.
A Multi-Coating has been applied to suppress lens flare and ghosting in order to produce greater contrast and color fidelity.
Manual focus design affords a minimum focusing distance of 11.8".
Removable petal-shaped lens hood helps to prevent stray light from causing flare and also offers some physical protection to the front element.

Nice high quality glass. Optical performance is excellent. DOF is huge.Only thing need to complain is the distant number from focus ring is off. I focus my lens at the target 1.5ft away using live view. Once I acquire the sharpest focus, I check the printed distance on the focus ring, which is about 2.5ft. So, the offset is about 1ft on the focus ring. This is a minor issue to me. So I give 4 stars to this lens.

question
Is this the same as the Samyang AE8mm as shown in this photo?http://www.dpreview.com/news/2011/11/25/samyang8nikon?utm_campaign=internal-link&utm_source=news-list&utm_medium=text&ref=title_8Your photo does not show the AE8mm in the lens?
It is the same lens. The image on the link you provided is 2 years old, so it is possible that Samyang changed the cosmetic appearance of the lens. Regardless of the lack of the mention AE on the lens, it is still the same lens.

question
What's the difference between this and the other 3.5 Samyang (for Canon). There are two, and ALL I can see is this one comes with the lens shade attached, the other one it's removable. And ten bucks more...
Aside from their cosmetic differences the two Samyang 8mm f3.5 fisheye lenses for Canon are the same aside from the removable hood option on the other version. The hood is removable on that version so as to not interfere with the image when shooting in full frame digital format or 35mm film.

question
Does this lens (for Nikon) have 1. focus confirmation, and 2. electronic circuit connectivity for exposure control (Auto, Program, Aperture priority, Shutter priority)? Thank you, and Happy New Year.
Yes it has focus confirmation. I used it with D5200 which can set aperture from camera but you need to get focus manually.
