Packaged together for your convenience, the Antelope Audio Orion Studio Rev. 2017 Audio Interface Bundle includes six Verge modeling microphones, one Edge Duo modeling microphone, and the Orion Studio Rev. 2017 multichannel interface. The seven modeling microphones provided herein, along with the multichannel interface and included emulative effects, provide you with many tools for recording and monitoring audio. With this bundle, you could mic a whole swath of instruments in many scenarios, including choral recording, drum recording, small-combo recording, and more. 

The Orion Studio Rev 2017 sports 32 channels of AD/DA conversion. It also offers twelve Class-A mic pres, along with combo jacks that handle XLR, 1/4", and Hi-Z 1/4" inputs. The machine can handle audio up to 192 kHz / 24-bit.

The six Verge microphones have small diaphragm condenser capsules that capture sound transparently. With included software, you can emulate the characteristics of classic and vintage microphones and apply them to the audio you've recorded.

The Edge Duo also models prized mics, doing so in a large-diaphragm condenser form-factor. It offers a dual-membrane capsule, as well as a breakout cable with two XLR outputs. This configuration allows the included software to better model the specific on-/off-axis responses of classic microphones. 

Effects are included with each product, giving you microphone emulations and vintage compressors, EQs, and more. 

  • Orion Studio Rev 2017 Multichannel Interface

    Featuring USB and Thunderbolt connections, twelve class-A mic preamps, and multiple output connection points, the 2015 iteration of the Orion Studio provided Antelope's signature conversion and clocking capabilities in interface form, and thus, allowed you to record and mix multi-channel audio either on the go or in your own studio; the Orion Studio Rev 2017 improves upon the original by increasing the dynamic range of the A/D while simultaneously decreasing the signal-to-noise ratio. Its latency has also been reduced.

    Hi-Z, mic, and line inputs abound, and the interface can facilitate 32 channels of conversion via Thunderbolt or 24 channels via USB—giving you low-latency audio in either case. The Orion Studio also features ADAT and S/PDIF digital connection points, as well as BNC jacks providing wordclock I/Os. Indeed, this unit offers Antelope-style clocking powered by 64-bit AFC technology to handle jitter.

    Turning your attention to its form-factor, notice how the Orion Studio fits all of these features into a single RU of rackspace. Additionally, the unit includes a digital control system; compatible with OS X and Windows operating systems, this software offers user-friendly manipulation over the interface's various controls.

    Class-A Mic Pres
    The Orion Studio provides twelve Class-A Mic Pres, as well as combination jacks which handle both XLR and 1/4" sound sources.
    Guitar Interface
    In partnership with Overloud, the Orion Studio offers integrated amp and cabinet simulations both vintage and contemporary in sound. The hardware-based FPGA effects allow guitarists to experiment with multiple speaker configurations, mic placement and EQ settings—all with low-latency.
    Low Latency
    Orion Studio utilizes a Field-Programmable Gate Array (FPGA) device to offer parallel processing capabilities and providing low-latency possible whilst utilizing Antelope's included audio effects.
    Remote App Support
    Orion Studio provides an iOS / Android mobile app that can control the unit's mic pres and other parameters from a smartphone or tablet.
    Vintage FX Bundle
    The Orion Studio offers its own emulations of legendary hardware pieces, such as the Pultec EQ. An AuraVerb reverb module is also included.
    Monitoring Options
    Orion Studio can allow you to create up to four independent, zero-latency mixes. These can be assigned to any output—including the two separate headphone outs. With this interface, musicians and engineers alike can monitor a session in their preferred manner. Control and switching among two pairs of monitors and both headphone outputs is handled in the digital control panel.
    Full Complement of Connections
    This device, and its digital control panel, works with most DAWs, be they OS X- or Windows-based. A variety of digital and analog I/Os—combined with its routing matrix—render the device conveniently interconnectable with various kinds outboard gear. Orion Studio offers two pairs of monitoring outputs, 16 analog outs, two reamp outputs, plus 16 channels I/O via ADAT and 2 channels I/O on S/PDIF.

  • Edge Duo Large-Diaphragm Condenser Modeling Microphone

    The Antelope Edge Duo is a dual-membrane, large-diaphragm condenser primarily designed to be used with Antelope's microphone modeling technology, which emulates the characteristics of various vintage and classic microphones. With its dual-membrane, dual-output construction, the microphone aims to facilitate an accurate on-axis and off-axis response, one that you can better tweak across two channels thanks to its multiple outputs. An included oxygen-free copper cable makes the connection from the mic's 5-pin output to two 3-pin XLR terminations.

    The mic itself sports two 1.3" gold-sputtered membranes, about 6 microns thick, which give you multiple polar patterns. Omnidirectional, figure-8, cardioid, and everything in between are available, tweakable in the software world during—and even after—your recording. The Edge Duo captures frequencies between 20 Hz to 20 kHz, doing so transparently, thanks to its low-resonance construction.

    The mic is designed to work with Antelope's interfaces, and as such, comes with the commensurate FPGA-based emulations. However, the mic also works with third-party interfaces, and that's why Antelope has included native plug-ins that work with Mac and Windows systems, so long as you have an iLok 2 or iLok 3.

    Along with the aforementioned breakout Y-cable, the Edge Duo includes a shockmount and pop filter. A case with foam inserts is also included.

    Single Capsule, Dual-Membrane Construction
    Housed in a specially designed low-resonance body with a sleek matte black finish, the Edge Duo features a 6-micron gold-sputtered dual-membrane capsule.
    Accurate Mic Modeling through Dual Outputs
    Edge Duo's dual-membrane capsule design feeds two separate XLR output channels via the included Y-cable. This stereosonic design allows the mic to accurately emulate the characteristic on- and off-axis responses of classic capsules, giving you a multi-dimensional mic-modeling experience.
    Included FPGA and Native Emulations
    The Edge emulations are designed to work hand-in-hand with Antelope's own precision mic preamps and converters. The Edge Duo can be used with any of Antelope Audio's mic preamp-equipped interfaces, whose built-in FPGA processing capabilities allow real-time vintage mic emulation.

    However, the mic also includes Antelope's native mic emulation plug-ins, meaning you can use any third-party audio interface, and even change modeling settings after recording. Available in VST, AU, and AAX formats for both macOS and Windows, Antelope's native AFX plug-ins provide minimal latency, a high degree of oversampling, and precise floating-point calculations. An iLok is required for these emulations, and it is available separately.

  • Verge Small-Diaphragm Condenser Modeling Microphone

    The Antelope Verge is a microphone designed to be paired with Antelope’s FPGA hardware modeling to give you a digital, tonal emulation of acclaimed vintage microphones. This system relies on the company’s FPGA technology, which provides low latencies whilst recording, as well as an extremely light touch on the CPU side. The resulting behavior (and timbre) of these digital processes is similar to analog gear.

    The Verge itself is a small-diaphragm, back-electret condenser microphone. An SPL-handling of 146 dB allows it to capture loud, percussive sounds, such as drums. With a frequency response of 40 Hz to 20 kHz, the Verge microphone, combined with Antelope’s FPGA-based preamp modeling, compressors, and EQs, aims to give you the expressiveness, feel, and tone of famous vintage microphones. 

    Accusonic 3D Modeling Engine
    With the included FPGA engine, you can emulate the sound of vintage microphones and exert control over proximity effect, off-axis response, and polar pattern—during or after recording. You can choose from a collection of classic and expensive microphones and track the results as you monitor live.
