Vallerret Ipsoot Overview

With these extra-small, black Ipsoot Photography Gloves from Vallerret you can protect your hands in cold and windy conditions without inhibiting your ability to operate a camera. The gloves feature a 100% Merino wool lining, Thinsulate insulation, a laminated, soft micro-twill and goat leather exterior, and a durable water-repellent (DWR) coating.

FlipTech finger caps can be folded back and held with magnets to enable optimal dexterity when accessing the camera controls. Thanks to the thin but warm lining, your skin won't be exposed when you open these caps. Additionally, the non-slip surface on each palm allows you to maintain a firm grip on a camera. As a bonus, a convenient storage pocket on the back of the gloves will hold an SD memory card, a key, or a microfiber cloth.

When you're done shooting and you've gone back indoors, the large Jersey cuffs allow you to slip the gloves off quickly. You can slide them back on just as easily when it's time to venture out again.

Vallerret Ipsoot Reviews

Not for cold conditions.

Had this product for a few years. Used it for multiple winter hikes. Tried to love it. But its not warm enough. When its cold, around 30 degrees. You will start feeling cold. When you add winds and start dropping temps, your finger tips start getting numb. I gave it 4 stars because it is still useful for weather above 30 degrees. Looking for other options now

Seems well made

The movable areas over the index finger and the thumbs are less than a great fit. But, I haven't had a chance to use the gloves in cold weather so perhaps the loose fit is necessary. Time and experience will tell.

Extremely tight around the fingers, not worth it

According to their website's size chart, I should have been an extra small, but got a small as per other reviewers' recommendations to go one size up. The gloves were extremely tight, to the point where I'd wager they impede your circulation and wind up making your hands colder. Not only that, the glove's fingers are rather long, so not much of your actual finger is exposed when you flip the flaps back, which defeats the purpose. If I went a size up, I'd imagine the glove's fingers are even longer, and the openings would be even more useless. This is for you if you have very skinny, very long fingers. Aside from that, these gloves just don't work. Wish they did, as the concept and design are both very cool.

I’ve had these gloves for 2 winters now and have used them frequently. I walk my dog every night, and once the temp falls below about 35, I wear these gloves. I’ve also done a bit of field work with the camera. It’s convenient to allow the forefinger and thumb to be able to pop out, whether it’s to spin a camera dial or hook up the dog’s leash. There are little magnets that will hold the fingertip back, so they don’t get in your way. That’s a real benefit. However... I’ve found these gloves to be sorely lacking when it comes to warmth. The palms stay nice and warm, but the fingers almost go numb they get so cold. And I don’t even have the fingers peeled back to operate a camera. I’d say they are about sized true, to slightly undersized. I ordered large and I would say they fit a bit snug. I think most of the time I would order medium gloves. Because they’re snug, that might account for some of the lack of insulation, but if I had to order extra large, I’d say my fingers would look like hot dogs in buns. I also doubt I’d have much dexterity. I’ve got to admit, for over $100, I expected more.

Warm Glove, Sizes Run Small

I ordered the Vallerret Ipsoot Photo Gloves based on the recommendation of a photo buddy. The gloves kept my hands warm at 19 degrees and the finger/thumb openings worked okay. I think as the gloves are used more and the leather softens, they will be even easier to use. I'm happy except that I had to return the first pair for a larger size. The gloves seem to run very small. Even one size larger seems a bit tight across the hand. I recommend ordering a size larger.

Excellent cold weather gloves

These are great gloves for shooting in cold weather. They are warm, have excellent feel and fit, and are plenty grippy for holding your gear securely. The index finger and thumbs fold back and are held open magnetically, making it easier to manipulate controls on the camera. Combine these with the Vallerret liner gloves, and you'll be ready for almost anything.

question

Size guidance required.Should one have snug fitting or loose fitting gloves?
Asked by: PD S.
These gloves are a snug fit. I a was borderline L to XL (ie top end of L (large) but bottom end of XL) on the Valleret website... chose XL and the XL is a snug fit. As a borderline size fit between L-XL I was very glad I went with the next size up as I don't think I would be happy with the L ..I think the L would have been too tight fitting. The internal padding in these gloves make for a snug fit.
