B&H has put together this Angler 3-Monolight Portrait Back Light Kit with Case to give photographers everything they'll need for a 3-point setup geared for studio work. The kit contains two Angler Glamour Flash 300Ws Monolights, two 43" white translucent umbrellas, and an Impact 100Ws EX100 Monolight with a 24 x 24" softbox. A kit case is provided for the lights. A 2-section, 3' Back Light Stand is included to allow use of one of the flash heads to illuminate the background, and an 8' air-cushioned light stand is included for each of the other two lights. Finally, a PowerTrigger Transmitter / Receiver Set is included to fire the lights wirelessly at distances up to 75'.
The Glamour Flash 300Ws Monolight from Angler combines affordability with dependable basic functionality. Power is adjustable from 1/16 to Full power over four stops via touchpad buttons. Settings are displayed on the large LED screen. The 100W modeling lamp can be set from full power for maximum visibility to Proportional to simulate power adjustments to enable previewing of your shot. Recycling is a fast 2 seconds and far shorter at reduced power settings. The Glamour Flash has an industry standard 5/8" receiver that mounts to a wide variety of light stands while the housing is rubber-coated to provide a grippy surface and protection from impact damage. The flash head can be triggered with the head's test button, a built-in wireless optical slave or with the included sync cord. The Glamour Flash comes with a user-replaceable flash tube, power cord, 100W modeling lamp, 7" grid reflector and a protective cap.
The Impact One-Monolight Kit (120 VAC) is an economical 100-watt/second monolight with modeling light and power variator. This kit includes a softbox with mounting ring, to soften the light output.
This 3' Impact Back Light Stand consists of a base and riser. Use the lower part as a base to place a mounted light at floor or table level, as low as 5.5". Add the extension to the base to raise the height of the light from 22.8" (57.9 cm) to a maximum of 3' (90 cm). The stand is constructed of black anodized aluminum.
This 43" White Translucent Umbrella from Impact is a versatile all-around light modifier that will create a pleasing light that's far less harsh than a bare light source. It can be used with flash, LED, or fluorescent light sources. As a shoot-through umbrella, it broadens and softens the light source output and minimizes shadows, making it ideal for portrait photography. The translucent fabric's diffusing properties allow light source to be placed close to a subject for a softer light that's also great for weddings and fashion. It has a standard size 8mm umbrella shaft that is compatible with most umbrella mounts.
This 43" diameter umbrella is useful for lighting one or two people for mid- and full-length portraits. It can also be reversed to use as a bounce-style umbrella to cover a larger image area.
The black Light Kit Bag #2 (34 x 13.5 x 12") from Impact makes transporting your lighting kit easy and secure. The bag is designed to hold three monolights along with their reflectors (such as Impact VC500LR), four stands, boom, umbrellas, cables and other support gear but can also be used to hold other lighting equipment instead. You'll have plenty of room to take along enough lighting gear for a portrait session - all packed in an organized and accessible way. A touch fastened divider tray separates the stands, boom and umbrellas from the lights preventing them from bumping together and causing scratches or damage. For additional smaller equipment such as cables and small accessories, there are three interior 10.5 x 8.0" zippered mesh pockets.
The bag is made from soft, padded water-resistant nylon and contains six movable touch fastened interior dividers (6 large, 2 small) that will permit you to configure the bag to accommodate the gear you need that day. The Light Kit Bag is carried by its two 2" wide overlapping top carry handles that can easily be extended into dual shoulder straps. The contents are accessed via dual zippers that when placed together will accept a user-supplied lock. For even more protection, the bottom of the bag contains three rubber feet for when the bag is placed on the ground. And the bag folds down to a quarter of its height for convenient storage and easy setup. Whether for storage or transport, the Impact Light Kit Bag will serve both pro or amateur well.
This aluminum Impact Air-Cushioned Light Stand rises to a height of 8' and folds down to 29.6". The stand has sure-twist section locks and 4 sections and will support up to 8 lb.
If you forget to tighten any section with your light mounted, the light slowly descends, thanks to the air-cushioned action. This useful feature saves equipment and fingers from harm during busy photo sessions.
The PowerTrigger 16 Channel AC Transmitter and Receiver Set from Impact contains everything you'll need to wirelessly trigger your studio AC flash units at distances up to 75'. The set includes a 16 channel transmitter and receiver as well as a 2.5mm sub-mini to PC cable, a 3.5mm to 1/4" monoplug adapter and a pre-installed battery for the transmitter.
The low-profile 1.2 x 1.6 x 2.8" PowerTrigger transmitter has a hot shoe for your camera, a test button, and 16 separate channels operating on the 433 MHz frequency to prevent interference from other devices. Channels are chosen on both the transmitter and receiver by configuring 4 DIP switches in 1 of 16 permutations on both the transmitter or receiver for wireless triggering from up to 75' away with flash sync speeds of up to 1/200 second. The transmitter runs on a pre-installed, 23A battery that can last up to 2 years with normal use.
Unlike the transmitter, the PowerTrigger receiver doesn't use batteries and is instead powered by the same AC cord that's used for your monolight. Think of it as an in-line receiver. Simply plug the end of the power cord into the receiver then plug the receiver's power cord into the head's power outlet. Finally, plug the PowerTrigger's attached 3.5mm sync cable into the flash. A 1/4" mono plug adapter is provided if the head doesn't have 3.5mm input. If you don't know what your flash head's sync voltage is, or if you're using an older unit you might want to purchase a Wein Safe-Sync adapter (MFR# 990-510) to insure that the sync voltage remains under 6V. The Safe Sync's monoplug attachment can be easily adapted to 3.5mm if necessary.
