High Impact Polystyrene (HIPS) is a good alternative to PLA. It is a good electrical insulator. It can be sanded and painted with acrylic paints. HIPS has medium flexibility and medium to low temperature resistance. HIPS can also be used as dissolvable support material for ABS and has impact resistance. The raw material complies with section 201(s) of the US Federal, Drug, and Cosmetic Act, and Parts 182, 184 and 186 of the Food Additive Regulations.
