Rounding out your kit, the Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM Lens with Accessories Kit from B&H bundles the portrait-length prime lens with 72mm circular polarizer and UV filters as well as a lens cleaning kit.

  • Canon EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM Lens

A unique medium telephoto designed for close-up shooting, the EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM from Canon is an L-series prime well-suited for high detail shooting with a comfortable working distance. For macro applications, this lens affords a life-size, 1:1 maximum magnification along with a 1.6' minimum focusing distance, however its long focal length is also ideal for portraiture and other closely cropped mid-length shooting needs. In regard to its optical design, three ultra-low dispersion elements are used to control color fringing and chromatic aberrations and a Super Spectra coating has been applied to reduce flare and ghosting. Benefitting these assets is an internal floating focusing system that works to maintain image quality throughout the entire focus range. An Ultrasonic Motor is used to provide quick and quiet autofocus performance, along with full-time manual focus, and a Focus Limiter function also helps to ensure fast focus speeds. Additionally, this lens is weather-sealed for use in trying environmental conditions and it has a removable rotating tripod collar to benefit working atop a tripod or monopod.

Medium-length telephoto prime is designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 288mm equivalent focal length.
Ideal for macro shooting, this lens offers a life-size 1:1 maximum magnification along with a minimum focusing distance of 1.6' to suit working with close-up subjects.
Three ultra-low dispersion (UD) elements greatly reduce chromatic aberrations and color fringing for improved clarity and color accuracy.
Super Spectra coating has been applied to individual elements to minimize ghosting and flare for greater contrast and color neutrality when working in strong lighting conditions.
A ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM) is employed to deliver fast, precise, and quiet autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override.
Floating elements system along with an internal focusing design helps to maintain consistent image quality throughout the focusing range.
Focus Limiter switch lets you constrain the focusing to two different ranges for faster focusing performance: 1.6'-infinity and 4.9'-infinity.
Rounded eight-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.
As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens is sealed against dust and moisture for working in inclement environmental conditions.
Removable rotating tripod collar is included and benefits working with the lens atop a tripod or monopod.
Compatible with optional EF 1.4X and EF 2X teleconverters.

  • Luminesque 72mm Circular Polarizer and UV Slim PRO Filter Kit

Combining two of the most useful filters available, Luminesque's 72mm Circular Polarizer and UV Slim PRO Filter Kit is well-suited to all forms of photography. Both filters are constructed from Schott optical glass and feature a 12-layer multi-coating for maintained clarity and image quality. Each filter is also set in an anodized aluminum filter ring, with the UV filter featuring a slim 3.4mm-thick profile to lessen the likelihood of vignetting with wide-angle lenses.

The UV filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. It is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times in order to reduce dust and moisture from reaching the front lens element and to provide additional protection in case of accidental impacts. Its 12-layer multi-coating also helps to achieve 98.2% light transmission for faithful color reproduction and contrast.

The circular polarizer filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto exposure functions.

    Luminesque PRO
    • Constructed from Schott optical glass for maintained image quality and clarity.
    • A 12-layer multi-coating helps to reduce surface reflections and glare for improved contrast and color neutrality.
    • Anodized aluminum filter rings feature a knurled top edge for easier installation and removal.
    UV Slim Filter
    • Absorbs UV light and reduces bluish cast of daylight for greater image clarity.
    • Clear filter provides no additional coloration or contrast, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
    • Works as general protection filter to reduce dust, moisture, and scratches from reaching the front lens element.
    • 12-layer multi-coating helps to realize a high light transmission rate of 98.2%.
    • Slim filter ring incorporates front threads and measures 3.4mm-thick to lessen the likelihood of vignetting when used on wide-angle lenses.
    Circular Polarizer Filter
    • Reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
    • Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
    • Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
    • Strongest effect when used at a 90° from the sun.

  • ZEISS Lens Cleaning Kit

This Lens Cleaning Kit from ZEISS is a complete solution for cleaning valuable optics such as camera lenses, eyeglasses, telescopes, or spotting scopes.

Both wet and dry cleaning tools are provided. For blowing dust off an optical surface, the air blaster can be used, while the retractable lipstick-style cleaning brush can dislodge more stubborn dirt or dust particles.

When a thorough wet cleaning is required, a 1 oz bottle of cleaning fluid or ten, individually-wrapped pre-moistened lens wipes are available. Designed for single use, these wipes come in individual, disposable packets. They can be stored in a camera bag, glove compartment, studio, or lens case for whenever they may be needed.

The non-abrasive, 7.1 x 7.1" microfiber cloth can be used after applying fluid or one of the pre-moistened wipes in order to complete the cleaning process and ensure that no streaks or spots remain. It can also be used on its own to effectively remove smudges.

A fabric travel case is also included to hold the contents of the entire kit.

    Canon 180mm f/3.5 reviews

EF 180mm f/3.5L Macro USM Lens is rated 4.8 out of 5 by 104.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from A Macro For Serious Photographers I've been using this lens for over a year now, as a replacement for the 100mm macro, because I wanted more precise images and a greater reach. It does that beautifully. The results are outstanding but one must never forget that this is a rather long lens. You will need a tripod for best results. It's sometimes difficult to find the subject (say an insect) because the angle is small (it goes with the focal length after all). The lens will sometimes search annoyingly for focus, but when it focuses, it's dead on, even with the 1.4x multiplier that I use often for greater reach. BTW, it's also a beautiful telephoto, more precise than any L-glass zoom I've used.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Sharp but needs IS. I am a freelance writer/photographer specializing on nature photography and outdoor articles. The 180mm macro is exceptionally sharp and I love using it, but it truly needs to be updated with image stabilization like the 100mm macro, which I also own. Fortunately, with the pro-level Canon cameras I can increase the ISO to give me higher shutter speeds to compensate, but I would rather not have to.The advantage of the longer focal length was made apparent while doing a close up of a butterfly on a wildflower, and yet was able to get a decent shot of a coyote passing nearby in the desert near Phoenix.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Amazing Lens: Exactly What I Expected I use this lens solely for Macro photography. I wanted to add a specialty lens to my camera bag to push myself to see things out of the ordinary. This lens is great for that purpose! With very good lighting this lens is fine hand-held. But in low light conditions a tripod is going to keep your shot in focus. The weight makes use without a tripod somewhat difficult. I do not think this should knock the lens down rating wise since it is a L model and the build quality is SUPERB. The lens case it comes with is simple and works great for short trips when you just want to throw it in a backpack or in the car. Overall couldn't be happier.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from 180 3.5 Macro Everything you could ask for in a Macro lens. Works exactly as eve one describes. Coming from the 100 macro you get much more focal length and even sharper. It is worth the money to just start with this lens instead of trying to finds a replacement. It just won't hopped If you are looking for a long focal length macro lens. Canon 180 3.5 L will not disappoint you at all. Little tough to hand hold but that is why there is mono pods and tripods. For now using 580EXII and working good for now. Would like to get Ex 24 lens eventually. Great buy, if you like Macro you won't regret this purchase. Also put an B&W UV Haze filter on it. A great purchase you will love out of the box.

Rated 4 out of 5 by from Did Somebody Say Bokeh? I still hold firm that amongst all of the other L lenses and sharp primes I've owned, this is the sharpest lens I've ever used. The image quality is incredible and the background blur this lens gives pictures is second to none. Sure the focusing is a bit slow, but if you use the focus limiter it becomes bearable rather quickly. Even then, don't expect to pan on anything as it generally won't keep up. That said, if your subject is small and you are unable to get too close, this lens is PERFECT for the job.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from My All-Time Favorite Macro Lens! This is my work-horse macro lens. I far prefer this 180mm macro over Canon's 100mm macro and Canon's 90mm Tilt and Shift lenses for close up nature photography. The 180's detail and intensity are stunning. This lens does require a tri-pod for sharp focus, but the extra effort is completely worthwhile. I use manual focus in addition to using a remote switch for incredibly crisp images. You can see examples of images using the 180 macro at MeanwellPhotographics in the Flora Gallery. In contrast, you can see results of the Canon 100mm 2.8 macro under Frogs and Amphibians at the same site. The beauty of the 100mm is that it can easily be hand held for quick moving subjects (like hopping frogs). The Canon 180mm is the only way to go for flora close-ups! Rated 5 out of 5 by from EF 180 Macro Heavy and the auto focus does not work well with macro in low light-USE THE MANUAL FOCUS! This lens takes beautiful pictures and will get a lot of use. The macro photos are really something else with this lens and it doubles as a telephoto lens. Either way, the photos are incredible. It is a little pricey, but the quality makes it worthwhile. If you want IS and to take hand held shots get another lens. A monopod comes in handy, if fact, you may consider a tripod that has a removable monopod. Once again, fantastic photos!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Excellent lens I purchased this lens for macro. I've shot insects, frogs, small flowers with and without the use of Canon extension tubes. I'm very pleased with the quality and sharpness the lens produces in both cases. This is my first macro lens, so I am still in the learning process, but right out of the box I captured some very impressive dragonfly images. I am happy with this addition to my line of L series lenses.
