Rounding out your kit, the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM Lens with Accessories Kit from B&H bundles the wide-angle prime lens with 72mm circular polarizer and UV filters as well as a lens cleaning kit.

  • Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM Lens

Characterized by its unique and advanced optical composition, the Canon EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM is a wide-angle L-series prime featuring a fast f/1.4 maximum aperture to suit working in difficult lighting conditions. Its optical design incorporates a Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics element; a specially developed element that helps to nearly eliminate chromatic aberrations and color fringing for notable clarity and color accuracy. In addition to this, an ultra-low dispersion element and two aspherical elements are also featured to further control various aberrations and distortion for great sharpness and resolution. Individual elements also feature a Sub Wavelength Coating to suppress flare and ghosting for high contrast and color fidelity when working in harsh and backlit conditions.

Besides the optical attributes, this lens sports a ring-type USM for quick and quiet autofocus performance and full-time manual focus override. Its durable physical construction is dust- and moisture-sealed, and a fluorine coating has been added to the exposed elements to guard against fingerprints and smudging.

Wide-angle 35mm lens is designed for full-frame Canon EF-mount DSLRs, however can also be used with APS-C models where it provides a 56mm equivalent focal length.
Fast f/1.4 maximum aperture benefits working in low-light conditions and also affords significant control over depth of field for working with selective focus techniques.
The Blue Spectrum Refractive Optics element virtually eliminates color fringing and chromatic aberrations by refracting shorter wavelengths of the visible spectrum (blue light).
A pair of aspherical elements and one UD element also help to control aberrations and distortions for sharper, clearer image quality.
A Sub Wavelength Coating has been applied to individual elements to control lens flare and ghosting for greater contrast and color fidelity when working in strong lighting conditions.
A ring-type Ultrasonic Motor (USM) is employed to deliver fast, precise, and quiet autofocus performance as well as full-time manual focus override.
As a member of the esteemed L-series, this lens is sealed against dust and moisture for working in inclement environmental conditions.
Fluorine-coating on exposed elements affords protection to the optical system, resists smudging and fingerprints, and is easier to clean.
Rounded nine-blade diaphragm contributes to a pleasing out of focus quality that benefits the use of shallow depth of field and selective focus techniques.

  • Luminesque 72mm Circular Polarizer and UV Slim PRO Filter Kit

Combining two of the most useful filters available, Luminesque's 72mm Circular Polarizer and UV Slim PRO Filter Kit is well-suited to all forms of photography. Both filters are constructed from Schott optical glass and feature a 12-layer multi-coating for maintained clarity and image quality. Each filter is also set in an anodized aluminum filter ring, with the UV filter featuring a slim 3.4mm-thick profile to lessen the likelihood of vignetting with wide-angle lenses.

The UV filter is a general use, clear filter that helps to absorb ultraviolet light and reduce the bluish cast of daylight. It is also useful as a general protective filter to leave on lenses at all times in order to reduce dust and moisture from reaching the front lens element and to provide additional protection in case of accidental impacts. Its 12-layer multi-coating also helps to achieve 98.2% light transmission for faithful color reproduction and contrast.

The circular polarizer filter helps to reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface. This results in a noticeable increase in the saturation of skies and foliage, as well as clearer imagery when photographing in hazy conditions. A circular polarizer differs from a linear polarizer in that it supports full use of a camera's autofocus and auto exposure functions.

    Luminesque PRO
    • Constructed from Schott optical glass for maintained image quality and clarity.
    • A 12-layer multi-coating helps to reduce surface reflections and glare for improved contrast and color neutrality.
    • Anodized aluminum filter rings feature a knurled top edge for easier installation and removal.
    UV Slim Filter
    • Absorbs UV light and reduces bluish cast of daylight for greater image clarity.
    • Clear filter provides no additional coloration or contrast, allowing you to pair this filter with others.
    • Works as general protection filter to reduce dust, moisture, and scratches from reaching the front lens element.
    • 12-layer multi-coating helps to realize a high light transmission rate of 98.2%.
    • Slim filter ring incorporates front threads and measures 3.4mm-thick to lessen the likelihood of vignetting when used on wide-angle lenses.
    Circular Polarizer Filter
    • Reduce reflections and glare by filtering out light that has become polarized due to reflection from a non-metallic surface.
    • Arrange and filter directionally polarized light perpendicularly to the reflected light allowing for the absorption of much of the light.
    • Lessens haze in distant landscapes and provides more saturated, vivid colors.
    • Strongest effect when used at a 90° from the sun.

  • ZEISS Lens Cleaning Kit

This Lens Cleaning Kit from ZEISS is a complete solution for cleaning valuable optics such as camera lenses, eyeglasses, telescopes, or spotting scopes.

Both wet and dry cleaning tools are provided. For blowing dust off an optical surface, the air blaster can be used, while the retractable lipstick-style cleaning brush can dislodge more stubborn dirt or dust particles.

When a thorough wet cleaning is required, a 1 oz bottle of cleaning fluid or ten, individually-wrapped pre-moistened lens wipes are available. Designed for single use, these wipes come in individual, disposable packets. They can be stored in a camera bag, glove compartment, studio, or lens case for whenever they may be needed.

The non-abrasive, 7.1 x 7.1" microfiber cloth can be used after applying fluid or one of the pre-moistened wipes in order to complete the cleaning process and ensure that no streaks or spots remain. It can also be used on its own to effectively remove smudges.

    Canon 35mm f/1.4 reviews

EF 35mm f/1.4L II USM Lens is rated 4.9 out of 5 by 121.
Rated 5 out of 5 by from What a dream I bought a SIGMA 35mm 1.4 ART, Had it for a week and could not stand it. Focusing problems, focus ring that is not smooth and couldn't even fix it with the doc. Returned it immediately and bought this. And OH MY GOD what a difference. At nearly double the price, this lens isn't for everyone but if you can afford it get it. Focus is tack sharp every photo. focus ring is oh os smooth and who doesn't love the feel/look of L glass. This lens has not left my camera body since I've gotten it. About a month in I've shot a wedding, concert and many portrait sessions without any sign of it slowing down. This thing is a work horse. GET IT.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Put my Sigma 35 Art in storage and Got This Instead I owned the legendary Sigma 35 art since it first came out, and it was an awesome performer. But over time, I was going through some severe backfocusing issues, despite calibrating it several times using the dock. As a wedding photographer and working professional, it was getting very frustrating. So I decided to give the new Canon version a try. Needless to say, I love everything about this lens and it is definitely worth the price. It's sharper, focuses quicker and resolves much better than the Sigma, and the weather sealing is a tremendous bonus. If you can afford it, opt to get this lens instead of the Sigma.

Rated 3 out of 5 by from Incorrect calibration I've used B&H for years, and totally trust in them, but I've never been sent such an off lens before. I pulled it reverently from the box, because it was my first lens purchase in years. I had everything I needed, but was excited to get something new. Imagine my disappointment when I attached it to my 5D MkIV, and my photos were all focusing to the sides of my focal points. I will be calibrating myself, but have only had front or back focusing issues before, so may be returning it. I was messaged by a fellow photographer who had recently experienced the same issue with the lens. Come on Canon. Get your act together.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Worth the upgrade I purchased a few of the prior versions of this lens, mostly because they took a beating being used for photojournalism. There was a reason I kept buying them though they were the sharpest wide lens in my bag. I didn't think the extra money would be worth the new version until I tried it out at B&H. This new version improved on what I already thought was a solid lens. Previous reviewers are right, the lens is sharp wide open and from my experience, edge to edge. I've also noticed less chromatic aberration in my highlights in my photos from the old version. The lower profile AF/MF button makes it hard to accidentally toggle, and the weather-sealed design improves its use in the field.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Best lens ever You can't do much better than this lens. If I had to, I could shoot an entire wedding with it. It is so versatile, delivers superior photos, and is overall a must have for any professional photographers. It's ability to shoot in both low light scenarios and harsh light is top of the line. Canon has really outdone themselves with this lens. I purchased this from this site for a couple reasons: first, it was a cheaper option than directly from Canon, second, I knew it would be shipped right away, and third, I knew I would receive excellent customer service. Overall, I highly recommend this lens, and this retailer!

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Love it! Like the Sigma Art -- without fighting autofocus! I bought the 35mm Sigma art and loved the shots I got with it -- but I struggled mightily to get it to lock focus in low light (music venues). I missed some shots that would have been great because of this issue. I knew I was always going to be a little disappointed. I decided I either had to get comfortable with missing shots and sorting through blurry photos for the gems or hold my nose and pay the price to buy this lens. I went for it! They say when you pay to buy the best you only cry once. I guess that sums it up for me. I feel like I have the best 35mm wide aperture lens available.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Pretty great, almost perfect I am a big fan of Canon gear, but I'm not completely sold on their wider angle prime lenses, due to sharpness and other image quality issues. I own this lens and it steps up the bar for canon. My sharpest Canon lens seems to be the 135 f2 L, which has pretty much no visible CA, and crazy sharpness. The 85mm L is also pretty amazingly sharp. This lens is worth it. Unfortunately, I can't say the same for the 50mm L. The Sigma beats it on image quality and price. My tests are with a 5DSR, so it's really pushing the detail envelope.

Rated 5 out of 5 by from Good solid lens I am now gazing sadly at my 35mm 1.4 L. I love this lens. To be fair, however, the 35mm 1.4 L II is better. Period. Crisp, clear, feels good. If I had to find anything negative to say it would be expensive and a little heavy. It's really nice on the 5DS-R. If you have its predecessor, especially if you have a chance to test the lenses side by side first, I'd borrow or rent the new 35 and see what you think. See if you notice a difference, especially if you aren't shooting 50 megapixels, or blowing up to 20 x whatever. If you have no 35, you won't go wrong with this one. You actually get almost as much as you pay forwhich is good.
