When the descriptions say it is Thunderbolt 3 compatible, does that mean the transfer speed will be 40Gbps? Or does it mean you can plug it into a Thunderbolt 3 drive on a mac but it's max speed is 10Gbps?
Hi, the chipset supports up to 10Gbps and is compatible with Thunderbolt 3 and USB. Keep in mind, a spinning hard drive will not be able to achieve either 10Gbps or 40Gbps due to the limits of a spinning disk. Peak speed will be around 225 MB/sec. Thanks! Oyen Digital Support
