TP-Link AX6000 Overview

Boasting throughput speeds up to 6,000 Mb/s, the Archer AX6000 Wi-Fi Router from TP-Link features support for Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax), a Wi-Fi standard that employs wireless technologies such as OFDMA (Orthogonal Frequency-Division Multiple Access) and multi-user MIMO (Multiple Input and Multiple Output) to deliver faster and more reliable Wi-Fi connections compared to Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac).

The dual-band Archer AX6000 boasts eight external antennas, a 2.5 Gb/s WAN Ethernet port, and eight 10/100/1000 Mb/s LAN Ethernet ports. USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 Type-A and Type-C ports allow for sharing hard drives, printers, and other devices across the network. The router also comes with a Smart Connect feature that automatically determines the best Wi-Fi band for your devices, Alexa and IFTTT applet integration, and easy setup and configuration via integrated Bluetooth and the TP-Link Tether app for Android and iOS.

Wi-Fi 6 (802.11ax) Technology
In addition to faster Wi-Fi speeds compared to the Wi-Fi 5 (802.11ac) standard, Wi-Fi 6 offers technological improvements that allow more users to simultaneously communicate with the router, plus greater energy efficiency for battery-powered network devices. The Wi-Fi 6-enabled Archer AX6000 offers 2.4 GHz data rates up to 1,147 Mb/s and 5 GHz data rates up to 4,800 Mb/s, along with 8 x 8 multi-user MIMO that allows for multiple users to stream 4K video or transfer large data files at the same time.
1.8 GHz 64-bit Quad-Core CPU
Helps to ensure fast transmission speed, support for more devices, and simultaneous high-speed applications.
USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 Ports
Includes one USB Type-A 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 and one USB Type-C USB 3.0/3.1 Gen 1 port for connecting external storage devices to quickly share files, photos, and videos. USB 3.0 and USB 3.1 Gen 1 are synonymous.
Smart Connect Support
Uses a single network name for both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi bands, then determines appropriate transmission band for your devices based on the wireless signal quality and the bandwidth needed.
Beamforming Support
Helps to boost Wi-Fi reliability and performance by focusing signals in the direction of wireless clients.
Router and Access Point Modes
Create a new wireless network with the Archer AX6000 in Router mode, or connect the Archer to an existing network to give it wireless capabilities in Access Point mode.
RangeBoost Support
Designed to improve the router's ability to detect and receive signals from wireless clients that are a long distance away.
TP-Link HomeCare
Powered by TrendMicro, this suite of security tools includes built-in antivirus utilities, intruder-prevention features, and an automatically updated security database.
Airtime Fairness Support
Assigns each device the same amount of time to exchange data, allowing for faster data transfer rates from your high-speed devices while preventing slower devices from clogging the network.
VPN Connections
Supports OpenVPN, PPTP (Point-to-Point Tunneling Protocol), and L2TP (Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol), technologies designed to ensure the security and reliability of VPN connections. Meanwhile, VPN acceleration helps to boost VPN speeds.
Alexa and IFTTT Integration
Take charge of your smart home devices with the Archer AX6000's support for Alexa and IFTTT home automation applets.
Bluetooth Setup and TP-Link Tether App
The Archer AX6000's integrated Bluetooth allows for easy router setup and configuration, while the TP-Link Tether app provides simplified router control and management from an iOS or Android device.

Can I use an Apple AirPort Extreme and Express as ...

Can I use an Apple AirPort Extreme and Express as a wi-Fi extender with this router?
    Asked by: Marco
This is a little technical but here is the answer: Extend an existing Wi-Fi network’s range. If you already have a wireless network in your home and want to extend its range, AirPort Express can help. Just place it in range of your primary base station — an AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule, or another AirPort Express — and near the area where you want your wireless connection. Launch the easy-to-use AirPort Utility app on your iOS device or Mac, and you’re mere minutes away from long-range Wi-Fi enjoyment. However, this is only if your AirPort Express is not connected to Ethernet. Otherwise, you can setup a roaming network. The newer Airport Express models (the ones compatible with 802.11n) can do this. First, you need the Express connected to Ethernet. Make sure that the main non-Apple router is set to share a public IP address. Next, when setting up the Express, just set up its Network name and Password exactly the same as the network used by your non-Apple router. The network mode needs to be "Create a wireless network," it should Connect Using "Ethernet," and Connection Sharing needs to be "Off (Bridge mode)."
